I know there has been a cataclysmic fall out between AA and HCC but, surely this would have been opportune the time for an olive branch or a gesture of good will. Regardless of what the council think of AA they should have shown themselves the better party and out of their own pocket funded some kind of campaign with city colours on civic property, an advert in HDM; anything that showed they give a ****. I know they most likely couldn't have used the badge due to permissions, but no-one can stop you using the colours; it would have been a touch of class. Instead we have nothing. It's high time they sorted this out, but you won't even get Allam to sit at the table, the cantankerous, childish, stubborn old fart.

Nail on the head, over and over again. 100% agree.

The only people who can do something about it, are people who don't want to do something about it.

What's the deal with merchandise anyway? How come Sports Direct etc. still sell Leeds, Liverpool shirts etc but not City ones. If those clubs make money out of it why can't we? This has always been the case for as long as I can remember, it definitely isn't just an Allamism.

Neither the club, owners or council do enough about this situation. No one seems to mind that we're so small time in this respect. I was speaking to a HCC councillor recently and he was such an arrogant and self-important ****. He was saying things like 'I've got more fingers in pies than you can imagine." He really seemed to think that being a labour councillor at HCC was some huge status and that everyone should respect him for it. He was adamant he knew certain stuff* which I know he was completely wrong on and tried to explain this but he couldn't comprehend that something he'd heard from the council wasn't correct and that being a HCC councillor h must know better than anyone else. He's also a Leeds fan from Hull. It's shocking that our City is run by all these anti-football/anti-City people.

*The topic it was on is irrelevant, but I've left it out simply because it could identify me and my work if he happened to be reading.

That's the point that has been made over and over - the rugby clubs do a great job of connecting with the local community, while City's output comes across as 'we're too big to bother - you should be coming to us regardless'.

When you don't embrace the local community, those non-football fans don't feel a part of occasions like this, so don't feel the need to make a fuss about it.

Was it that fat twat Gary Cooper?

Fingers in pies? ...most probably only gained those opportunities from abuse of power. Councillor buys wooden fencing company... suddenly the council need lots of wooden fencing.

But Arsenal don't represent the whole of London. They don't even represent the whole of North London, so that makes sense.

It'd struggle to get to Arsenal City Hall to be fair.

The current marketing 'team' at the club is an Everton fan called James Mooney.

    From his LinkedIn:

    Summary
Currently working as Marketing & Online Commercial manager at Hull City after 4 years managing the Karoo website for KC. Prior to this I worked in retail marketing following a 2.1 degree in Business Management and English from Liverpool University.

My skills include management of online and offline marketing campaigns, branding ,Monetisation of websites, social media, online copy writing and content strategies.
    Experience

    Marketing and Online Commercial Manager
    Hull City
    April 2013 – Present (1 year 2 months)Hull, United Kingdom
Marketing and Commercial manager looking after various aspects of the business including:

    Ticketing
    Branding
    Promotions
    Online content
    New online revenue generation
    Social Media
    Retail

    -------------------------------------------------

To be fair to him, that is a wide range of areas to cover, especially now, when online presence is as important as offline.

I think the club should have 2 people in the marketing team, one focussing on branding, promotion and retail, with the other focussing on the rest (online areas).

Have CTWD infiltrated the clubshop at the KC?

They have some new hoodies in with the slogan 'Forever CITY' on.

    WTF is going on?!?!?!?!?!

Is there a mole/pisstaker in the clubshop?

Is someone there in dispute with our current owners and trying to cock a snook at them ?

Is it that our whole commercial side is so hopelessly lacking in connectivity that the clubshop buyer has no idea of the 'City' controversy?

Why isn't someone high up at the club up in arms about it?

Do they ever darken the door of our clubshop or have they no idea about what they sell in there?

    Shambles.

As someone who works in online marketing for big brands, I can safely say that City's attempts are atrocious and sadly they have got it all wrong. It really doesn't help that the clothes they stock are awful and have been for a long time! This is an area that the club need to exploit for all its worth.

In general the entire media, PR and marketing departments seem like they are lagging behind other Premier League clubs.

The ambulant vendors stuff in town seems just as good (bad) in quality terms, but at least they try.

James, like Ash, is a good guy, although his passion for Everton is much greater than for City, which is a bit odd. Nick Thompson was a Norwich fan but managed to 'turn it off' better than James does with Everton.

I think he's a good guy but completely endorse what BCC says, they should be more proven specialists in the field.

Only Assem really wants the name change, but when the club as a whole get abuse on social media and forums about it, that makes the rest of the staff a bit defensive and they start to try and defend it, maybe even a bit subconsciously. I think the resetment for the fanbase and strong dislike of CTWD (certain individuals of the group in particular) goes deeper than just the owners, sadly.

Are you saying there are other people at the club (apart from the current owner) who resent the fans?

It really doesn't matter who they support - Bucko is the best Hull City HDM writer since David Bond and in my 15 year PR career, before working for them I've never been a 'fan' of any of the products or companies I've represented. To be honest I think it's a plus and stops someone making decisions of the heart rather than head.

Maybe resent was a strong word. I think there's a complete lack of understanding of the fans and when they see comments from people on here and social media they don't consider taking the criticism on board but instead become defensive and seek to justify the status quo. I think they'd rather not hear from us. No one wants to hear they're doing a bad job.

I know what you mean but with James it's a bit OTT. I don't think he'll mind if we lose tomorrow and I'm sure he'd have preferred Everton to get into the top 4 than Arsenal, even if it meant City not qualifying. Anyway it sounds like I'm really having a go at him and I'm not. He is a good guy and good for the club but we need more people around him.

I've no idea why we don't allow anyone else to sell our kits, as you say it's not a recent thing, it was the same under AP.

Go to Sports Direct/JJB and you can buy an MK Dons kit, or a Portsmouth one, but not ours.

If we consider HCFC in marketing terms and view them as a 'brand', how many people at the club have a passion, enthusiasm and knowledge of the brand?

The owners see it as a business and as an ego vehicle.

Most of the employees seem to be happy employed in a glamourous industry.

To run a football club you need a mixture of expertise and passion, of money and enthusiasm for that club.

    We don't have that.
