I've been informed that Ryan Gauld is on our target's list, along with John Souttar. Now they WOULD be good signings.

There's no smoke screen, we just don't need any more strikers, as things stand anyway. What we have will be enough to keep us up again next season(should all stay/stay fit. And of course avoiding relegation, will be our only target.

We can't afford better than we already have anyway. Just keep fingers crossed on Fryatt and Aluko staying fit,and making progress.

Yes we need two strikers each scoring 30-40 goals <ok>

Knew you'd enjoy the geographic stereotyping there <laugh>

Aluko's much better than you think and what happens with Fryatt will be entirely his decision, not ours.

We don't need any more strikers. The ones we have are capable enough. We don't need a player that scores 30 odd goals if we only need to win games 1-0 and as SB said, he's happy with his lot.

We need a bit more creativity in midfield, somebody who can unlock a defence. We also need a plan B, we've seen time and time again this season that we just lump balls into the box from wide positions. That's fine, but as we saw against Sunderland, if defenders cope with it, we need to also attack through the middle, like we used to last season.

LB - Figgy has been poor, dunno when\if Dudge will be back
CM - Livermore or his replacement
RM - Only really Elmo as natural cover. Aluko could fill in but doesn't track back enough IMO

I also think we need to look at a youngish keeper to challenge McGregor for #1, and maybe a couple of loans.

If we can upgrade the other areas of the team, we’ll become more potent.

Every pre-season for ages, we’ve been needing strikers. But, now we seem to be in a position where we are settled with the strikers we have.

Goal scorers tend to be expensive, but if we have the luxury of being able to divert these funds into defence and midfield, this can surely only be a big positive for the future.

For the development squad, i assume ? Souttar is seventeen, too young for a centre back.

It'd be worth signing Sam Winnall from Scunny 23 goals this season, out of contract. Be a cheap acquisition and still only 23.

I've been told by a reliable source that Seb Larsson will join on a Bosman from Sunderland.Makes sense since Bruce signed him at Birmingham & Sunderland.

I think we need a back up keeper, but that'll depend on the Harper situation, not sure what that is anymore after the other day. Full backs are a weak link for us, certainly LB & I hate having Elmo at RB, it's just too risky in the PL, so at least 1 of those needs to be bought if not both, cover at CB too, I still fancy Turner to return, out of contract & SB knows him. Midfield will be interesting, we all know he wants Livermore permanently so that at least 1 player in, then maybe another cover for CM or will Quinn & Meyler be that? I still see a luxury player in there somewhere though, maybe when he fancies playing 1 up front & having a midfielder who can play in between that striker & midfield. Wingers situation is another interesting one, Brady will return like a new player & hopefully remain fit, that should give us more options of moving the ball instead of always knocking it down the right for Elmo, also if anything happens to Elmo then we don't really have enough cover there. Yes Aluko can do it,a me as he can do the link up striker, but he's not a defensive player who will track back. Finally striker, SB says no striker needed, but like GK it all depends on Fryatt.
Having said all this, there are a few kids who have been out on loan or been brought in & we need to have some in the Europa squad anyway, so maybe that's why he's not looking for a striker or has options in the youth for some of the positions above, there is that Dutch kid who we signed so he might get a look in as a squad player.
I'm sure though that others could shed more light on the youngsters.

The Dundee lads will be expensive. Think Souttar has spent a week with Everton.

They may be talented and have some potential but we havent the cash for potential just yet.

On a tangent - any of our larkers on their way for profit?

It would seem they have a decent set of kids coming through from what I can gather, or are they players they've picked up on frees? Certainly young anyway.
