Can barely see the cars on some parts of the track here it's so smoggy/cloudy. Into Q3 now, Hamilton gone quickest again but getting to crunch time now as they all prepare for a final quick lap. Ferrari are in disarray, especially after Domenicali quitting, Raikkonen only manages 11th after earlier suspension problems in practice and Alonso sits in an extremely distant 5th, plus 2 seconds off pole.
Hamilton is hauling ass, improving on his pole time, bullet fast. Get in Lewis, pole! Oooh Rosberg spins it just before the line after running very wide on the previous lap. Lewis' speed is too much for him today. Think we're seeing the Hamilton superiority at the wheel starting to show here. Rosberg not quite up to the same level. Ricciardo 2nd, Red Bull have got themselves a talent there and his attitude is excellent.
Raikkonen walks to press area for interview, nose slightly in the air wearing a huge pair of Oakleys with red lenses, mumbles something unintelligible for two seconds when asked about tyres and conditions. Walks off. Class.
Thanks for the updates, see what you mean about the visibility http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/formula1/27087199
Spoiler alert: [nsfw]Hamilton hammered the **** out of the rest there. A full second faster is unbelievable! [/nsfw]
i dont have sky sports so going to miss race sadly, why is some races shown on bbc live and some not?
There are plenty of streams of the Sky coverage around. BBC lost sole rights to coverage three or so years ago when Sky started a bidding war and the Beeb winced at the money involved, so the BBC gets to pick I think 9 races to show in full on TV and highlights packages for all races, whereas Sky shows them all live. The Sky coverage is pretty good now, had a shaky start with a lot of F1 fans ranting how it wasn't the same not being BBC but they've brought quite a lot of new features to the show.
Rosberg wins the battle with Vettel and pulls away to go clear in third. Both Red Bulls going for each other now for fourth, Ricciardo stalking Vettel. Now Vettel is told to let Ricciardo through. Will he?
Vettel asks what tyres Ricciardo is on, radio man tells him primes, Vettel's response 'Tough luck'. So Ricciardo isn't being let past, Vettel disobeying and putting his foot down. Ricciardo overtakes him moments later anyway.
He's such an arsehole, a spoiled, dirty arsehole. Hate it how the commentators were trying to find a reason why he is slower than Riciardo, saying its because Vettel is used to double diffusers and non-difficult cars whereas Ricc has had to fight with a Toro Rosso for years. Could it just be that he's being found out?
Spanish GP qualifying about to get underway. Hamilton quickest in practice, expected to carry that pace into quali. All eyes on McLaren who look to have made a step forward in the three week break since the last race in China which Hamilton won comfortably with a superb drive. And of course much discussion of Vettel's continuing struggles with his wiring loom failure in practice and teammate Ricciardo outperforming him again. Off track Bernie Ecclestone's bribery trial has been hearing from key witness Gerhard Gribkowsky who it is suggested received a £26,000,000 bribe from Ecclestone to secure the sale of a stake in Ecclestone's F1 business to a company he preferred. Overshadowing all this are the tributes being paid to Ayrton Senna this weekend in the first GP since the twentieth anniversary of his death on May 1st 1994 at the San Marino GP. RIP Ayrton Senna... legendary.
Yes been watching it. A lot nice weather than here! Saw the Senna docu finally the other week. Fantastic!
Great film, timely watch. This is only the second dry quali this season! This race always seems to be sunny.
Yes indeed a timely watch with the 20th anniversary There was a driver killed the day before in qualifying as well wasnt there? What was his name? Also there was a very big accident where they thought he wouldnt survive but did. Was that Barrichello? I remember watching the F1 that weekend at Imola. Was a bad weekend
The Austrian driver Roland Ratzenberger also died, yeah Barrichello had another huge crash but only broke his nose. Senna had an Austrian flag stashed in the cockpit of his car that he was going to hold up when he crossed the finish line.
