    From todays Chronicle:

Host of big names eye Newcastle United job as Pardew goes into final game of the campaign with pressure building...

As a shrewd businessman, Ashley will have his own ideas in terms of a possible replacement for Pardew.

He needs no reminding that Glenn Hoddle, Roberto DiMatteo and Frank Rijkaard are out of work at the moment while Tim Sherwood and former Newcastle striker and fans’ favourite Les Ferdinand could fit the bill if Tottenham go for a big-name manager.

It is believed that Di Matteo and Rijkaard would be prepared to listen if Newcastle came calling.

Lee Clark, who has led Birmingham City to survival on a shoestring budget, is also the choice of some sections of the Newcastle support.

Interesting list of names if there is any truth in the article. I liked this bit less:

Alan Pardew will play for his place in the managerial dugout at St James’ Park during a meeting with Mike Ashley next week.

In it the under-fire Londoner will be asked to explain where he thinks the Magpies have gone wrong and how he will put it right ahead of next season.

The Chronicle understands that Toon tycoon Ashley was on Tyneside on Thursday to watch his Sports Direct staff play a game at St James’.

But he opted against any serious talks about Pardew’s future and will wait until the annual end of season summit meeting to see if Pardew can convince him he is still the man for the Magpies.

Pardew said yesterday: “We need to focus on finding solutions.

“I’ll be as honest and frank as I can be as a manager.

“I’m sure Mike will have an opinion what what we need to do better.

“Hopefully, we’ll get the right solutions to get a season like we had two years ago.”

Literally no sane fan wants Lee Clark as manager of Newcastle United.

Mate think about it. Imagine Clark as manager. Get that mental image. Now, could you possibly see him doing a good job? It would be doomed to spectacular failure.

Really, nearly took a club like Birmingham down to League One. That is some special talent. Oh wait Pardew at Charlton and Southampton <doh>.

Probably, no one knows what Ashley will do next. He might decide to sell this summer with a bit of luck.

    Even more special talent.

He wasn't very well thought of by the Hammers fans either.
