The leading contenders for the NCFC manager's job are Neil Adams, Neil Lennon, Malky & Tim Sherwood. Out these contenders who would you prefer to see lead City's attempt back into the premiership next season?

    Neil Adams

    Neil Lennon

    Malky

    Tim Sherwood

If they are the only options, (I'd rather none of them) but in order Lennon>Malky>NA>TS

I have put in an "other" option incase anyone did not want any of the named contenders Dave, I'd just be interested to know who you'd prefer if you did select the other option.

I would accept any of the names there but have reservations about all of them.

Malky is a good manager. Don't forget what he did for Watford. He would do a good job for us. He is very defensive and that is not what is needed to unite the fans.
Adams is a reasonable tactician. He is a decent bloke and knows the players. He is very inexperienced.
Lennon is an experienced manager and has won lots. He knows Hooper and how to get him playing well. He is an unknown quantity and tends not to be too popular.
Sherwood, has done well at Spurs. Not sure.

I still have no strong preference as long as it is someone who can unite thesquad and get them playing to their potential.

The continual mention of Tim Sherwood makes me nervous - I have no idea what the appeal is there.

I agree. I don't think he has sufficient experience and hasn't done a memorable job at Spurs. I think the Norwich connection may have swayed some.

Although who knows, he may rock up and we'll steamroller our way to the Prem. Or maybe not

He obviously gets players fired up and fighting, which is partly what we need right now, but he's been found out tactically and should have done better with that Spurs team. I think they'd be a lot closer to Arsenal in the league if they'd stuck with AVB.

Im interested to know why so many are against Neil Lennon? i personally think he would be a great fit to our club. If DM can pursuede a big managerial signing like NL i think we have a fantastic chance of competing to go straight back up.

NL has experience, Champions League and knows how to deal with the media, hes a strong character and comes across as a motivator which just what a few of our players need. He also knows how to get the best out of Hooper, i would be very happy if he came to us and cant really see any negatives.

I would be interested to know those against him and why?

Personally I don't think Lennon would come to us in the Championship. I also don't think the SPL is a reliable barometer of his managerial talent. I'm pretty sure even Roeder could win the SPL with Celtic.
As for getting the best out of Hooper, see my previous comment about the SPL. Hooper scored a lot of goals in the Championship for Scunthorpe but maybe the Premier League is just a step too far for him at the moment?

I think Hooper would score goals in the Premier League if in the right team. The team haven't created enough chances for him.

Perhaps I was mistaken Dave but I thought you expressed very anti Lennon opinions a while back?

Attacking football & a guy who isn't afraid to speak up !
He'd demand respect from his players and get us playing with a bit of belief and passion again.

I know this sounds bad, but I'm much clearer about who I don't want than who I do. I'd like:

    a) Someone who doesn't divide the fans b) Someone who plans to win games rather than not lose them c) (probably) Someone with no connections to the club who can therefore handle the existing players fairly and dispassionately, and break up any cliques which may have emerged

If we can get him, the guy from Mainz?

we've had our fair share of managers with undesirable managerial traits, thank god we have DM in charge hes usually a good judge of character, or was it just luck with lambert?

He hasn't always got it right, as I understand it he appointed Lawrie Sanchez at Fulham.

Not to mention CH of course.

As for the managers I am not keen on any in that list.

If Wigan fail we should pay the money to make sure we get Rosler. Oscar Garcia would also be worth investigating.

I'd avoid Eddie Howe like the plague, joined Burnley and took them backwards, now look at them. I think he'd be disastrous for us.

How many of these so called 'up and coming' managers have actually lived up to their hype? with exception to Lambert, Rogers and Martinez in recent years ide say the majority of them havent. Success counts on many factors and the glove has to fit the hand, but there are a rare few managers who seems to be able to just work with almost any player and get them to box above their weight. The next season i would say the last thing we want to do is take a gamble and 'see how things go' with an untested up and coming manager, no disrespect to NA but not for me, give him a lesser roll along side a big name, we need to pushing hard from the off not experimenting...
