I'm pretty sure some of them will be once van Gaal has checked them out, malingering wages thieves. But that will be ok of course, because he's like, won stuff and everything.
Its not going to be easy. Certainly not as easy as many of you believe though I've seen some realism here and there. Getting CL should be your priority next season in terms of a goal but overall you will need to find a young manager with a plan (unlike Moyes who never really had a footballing philosophy). After that a clearout of overpaid aging stars, trying to retain Januzaj, Jones, De Gea, Mata and Rooney. Following that a rebuild is needed with younger and hungrier players. Its not a one year thing as we found out. You are in a bit of a different situation but you can't paper the cracks with a bit more money than we had to spend. It could go either way. Luckily we rebounded. Your demise helped but given the problems that have been swept under the carpet for years it was expected. I for one hope you don't make the right choices because of the grief we have got from your lot in the past. Overconfidence could send you slipping further down the path of irrelevance. Next season we will have more games but we will have a squad that knows each other well and the style well. Hopefully some new additions and we will be stronger than ever. City and Chelsea will buy their spot leaving you to fight with Arsenal, Spurs, and Everton. Arsenal have experience getting that final spot and Spurs will be better (though maybe not) with a more settled squad. You will do better than Everton but will it be enough? I wouldn't get cocky. There is always the risk that we could regress too, but somehow things look positive for us.
There is no question the players let the club down this season. Bar a handful, every player needs to hold their hands up and accept responsibility for their part. Moyes was poor. Very poor. Under par for his own standard and his dithering style and negative mind set effected everyone around him. I doubt giving him serious sums of money to try and spend his way out of a hole would have worked. He just wasnt the right man. Some of the underperforming players are finished at the club anyway. Saying van Persie underperformed is a little unfair though imo.
We've got experience of winning the league, lot's and lot's of it, that hasn't suddenly been erased. Apart from that though that's a fair assessment. The truth is, while I think getting back into the top is definitely attainable if we sign three or even four very good players, I still wouldn't be surprised if we don't get there in van Gaal's first season as he has a major rebuild on. A re build that for some reason wasn't accepted as required under Moyes.
Chief has this spot on and I think UIR is slightly deluded and wants to believe that it was all Moyes purely because he doesnt want to accept that Manchester United, in ALL aspects, were abysmal this year. I mean christ, we had Roberto Di Maf**kingtteo as manager when we won the Champions League! You think that was HIM that did that? No, it was the players. And Moyes knows has forgotten more about management than Di Matteo will ever know. In my opinion it breaks down like this for me: 25% of the blame can be apportioned to the fallout from losing Fergie, he was an awesome manager and you were always going to be worse without him....that is an inescapable fact. 25% of the blame can be apportioned to David Moyes being tactically naive and out of his depth with the expectations of such a big club, 50% of the blame lies with your players...I am sorry but it does.....Chelsea had a decent team, not the best, but decent, and won the Champions League, even with a pair of clown shoes for managers that season (AVB and RDM). That was because the players had passion and heart (fix up look shaaaaarp). Your players this season shocked me sometimes, most of them looked like they couldnt be a**ed with it, that as soon as they knew they were out of the title race they just gave up.......it was ridiculous. Whoever comes in next needs to change that...(ie kick those bastards out!!)
Who has said its all Moyes fault? He takes the majority of the blame but he couldnt help some things. Its what he couldnt help that cost him the job. Also sorry but the irony of a chelsea fan, or liverpool fans doing this is erm.....hilarious.
Doing what? Do I think Moyes should have gone? Yes, he wasnt good enough. You were a little too zealous about it, but ultimately right. Do I think the majority of it was his fault? Hell no!! The players you had should have been able to finish in the top 6 even with Helen Keller in charge. Especially with how poor Spurs have been this year! And it stilll look like they will finish above you.
The issues at the club were clear for all. Moyes was given money and support to get targets. He disregarded the ones the club had scouted for months and went for big names...... he failed miserably ( woodward also takes a huge part of the blame here ). He then paid a near record fee for fellaini. Whos to blame for our squad issues? Moyes. Midfielders were available for **** sake. its not as if he had no option is it? So sorry Moyes, you ****ed up big time. We had aging players. fair enough. chelsea do too. Barcelona as well. What Moyes did was call our aging legends **** and didnt stop banging on about how he was going to replace them. Who with? Who wants to play under Moyes? Mata? I bet he loved it. whos fault is it for a lack of confidence and leadership? Moyes has to take the blame. There are much better ways to handle such a situation especially when you will be relying on these players. We lacked any tactics, any positivity and the club as a whole had no confidence. Whos fault is that? Was it RvP who was calling those writing us off idiots, was it evra with his fighting talk? Maybe Rio? Jose Mourinho bigged up united more than Moyes. His negativity clouded the whole club and many fans to what was really happening. For some reason a tiny number of our fans think we are ****ing awful now. Just randomly out of the blue.......... He had money he had a great set of players he had the support of the fans he had the backing of SAF and SBC ( he blamed it all on SAF ) he was given more time than any manager would have been given anywhere else. He got paid for it....... Was he entirely at fault? Nope. Was it right to sack him? Without doubt. Was he the cause of our poor season. YES
If he was, its only because your players allowed him to be. Like I said, you still had a good enough squad to make the top 6, easily.....two of the best forwards in the world in RVP and Rooney. The rest of your squad was adequate enough to perform better than they have been. Like I said, we were stuck with 2 donkey managers in one season and finished top 6 and won the Champions League, all because of the dedication and resolve of our squad. United players showed none of that.
Rafa while a target for ridicule is a vastly superior manager to Moyes. RDM was a club hero. He was awful in the league though but as one of the lads, he got them fired up in europe. This led to an unlikely win. If the players should just be great regardless then why is SAF being credited with all our success ( wrongly ) and why do clubs even have managers? No offence but you are talking utter ****e. You won 2 ****ing knock out tournaments defending for your life. One with a club legend and the other with a decent manager. What about the times when you have won **** all? Why not mention those times. when you had a better squad but finished up with zero trophies. Where was this resolve then?
It's not about whether they 'should just be great', it's about whether they should try. It's not even remotely the same thing.
I think they have tried. Most of them anyway. Poor form and lack of confidence has been the main issue fornthe squad. Fans in general have thrown our players under a bus far too easy this season. They have not handled it well but the club as a whole hasnt coped well since Fergie left. For me its next season that the players need to show their worth in. They have to bounce back as this season was a shock the system for them. Im not blind to their failings. Im just willing to give them more time. More than I was willing to afford moyes obviously. Reckon the players have earned one dire season after everything. Moyes just wasnt right.
Confirmation from the Barclays Premier League today that we will in fact "be back next season" as they look to prepare the fixture list for 2014-15. They also confirmed the same cannot be said for Cardiff, Norwich and Fulham.
Rafa wasnt the other manager we had that season, it was AVB. fyi To be fair there hasnt been many seasons in recent memory where we HAVENT won a trophy. 2011 is the only year in recent memory where we have ended trophyless. So, not talking **** really. You just seem to be overly anxious to put all the blame on to Moyes and to brush the attitudes of your players under the carpet. I am sorry but they surprised me with their couldnt give a f**k attitude. Because that is something SAF never put up with in 26 years. Even if you werent the most talented player, if you had the right attitude SAF would keep you around. Also in the other seasons where we have won nothing, we have still challenged for trophies and finished in the top 4!!
