What has nationalism got to do with Einstein's initial endorsement of the atomic bomb? He was German. Germany was the most likely target for an atomic bomb. He was lobbying America to use such a weapon in order to halt a bunch of murdering, racist, German nationalists from securing total control of the continent of Europe. He initially endorsed the use of the Atomic bomb as he correctly calculated that it would save millions of lives in the long run. He later turned against the idea after seeing exactly what an atomic bomb does (in Japan) and fearing that Nuclear proliferation in the future would one day lead to all out atomic war. It was a natural reaction to the sheer power of what happened in Japan and the realisation that mankind could literally wipe themselves out and take half the planet with them. So far we can say; 1) the use of Atomic weapons at the end of World War II did save lives (and most of them Japanese....they were fighting to the death and wouldn't have submitted without a battle on the Japanese mainland)....approx. 200,000 Japanese died in the 2 cities. Prior to dropping the bombs the US, China and the UK demanded unconditional surrender of the Japanese armed forces in the Potsdam Declaration on July 26, 1945, threatening "prompt and utter destruction".....the Japanese knew the game was up but opted to carry on. Millions would have died as a consequence of this insanity. and 2) the presence of Atomic weapons have, if anything, reduced the risk of the world's major powers engaging in the "total war" that we saw prior to Hiroshima and Nagasaki..... "total war" = Total war is a war in which a belligerent engages in the complete mobilization of all available resources and population. In the mid-19th century, "total war" was identified by scholars as a separate class of warfare. In a total war, there is less differentiation between combatants and non-combatants than in other conflicts, and sometimes no such differentiation at all, as nearly every human resource, combatants and non-combatants alike, can be considered to be part of the belligerent war effort. This type of warfare started in the American civil war and ended with the dropping of atomic bombs at the end of World War II (at least I hope it has ended!).....Millions and millions of lives were lost inbetween.
I Have studied politics and past a course with the open university years ago so i know what im talking about. Politics is one of my main hobbies and something im very passionate about so your wrong there terrotwit...
Unfortunately Gendros posts before his brain has a chance to process the information he reads. I consider myself a nationalist and only vote for Plaid Cymru as the other parties are all the same with different colour ties. Although I do acknowledge that PC were a waste of time at times, so if I must vote for a crap party, I make sure they're Welsh
The way I see it is the Tory and labour have got it all sewn up between them. The Tory lot do all the nasty dirty work to get the economy seemingly on track at the expense of the poor and the workers till they go to far then their booted out. then the labour lot come in and piss any gains up against the wall till were potless again and go to far and are booted out again and so the cycle continues. They threw a bone to the libs who are a joke last time . And thier mates the bankers fkd things up big time which we will keep paying for for generations to come. We've had criminals like Archer and Mandy in gov and even war criminals like Blair as pm with his wife mrs conflict of interests cherie in bed carving policies up to suit their personal agendas, cash for questions , sleeze, expenses and lots of other scandals flow non stop and very little is done about it. The media control helps with that. So I guess we put up with it as they've designed society to make them untouchable by controlling every aspect of our lives that they can by using lies, threats and fear and smoke n mirrors to lead the sheep majority from cradle to grave with as little disobedience as possible . No student protest anymore no fighting unions anymore no power to the people anymore they've got it all sewn up !
I would love to vote plaid cymru but to me its a wasted vote a bit like my party really but everyone should vote and it should be compulsory because as long as it is not we will always have a two party country and both labour and tories are much the same when it boils down to it. Most disagreements are trivial and point scoring because when you cut to the chase they both want the same. There is so much corruption and wheeling and dealing behind closed doors its shocking. Its like a millionaires tea party looking after their own interests. Most mp's are figureheads of somebodies business and a lot have second jobs working 3 or 4 days a month for a tidy sum of money so it don't matter what party they are in they will look after the companies who pay them. Its very corrupt in British politics and always have been and until there is a radical shake up then we will continue to have either labour and tory governments. Your local Mp got in because of what he stood for and the promises they make but the minute he or she is elected then that all goes out the window as there are whips making sure they toe the party line and that to me is dictatorship and conning the public. Making voting compulsory will go a long way to irradiating the sleaze in politics because the people who don't vote are letting the two so called main parties have things their way. Why do you think that nobody other than the minor parties bring up the question of compulsory voting?? because it would be disastrous for the two main parties who know that as things are then it will be a two horse race......yes British politics is very corrupt...
OK Citizen Dai. In that case you can explain what the **** this...... .....has to do with UK foreign policy.
Classic Dai logic that....you know, you are that good at the old double speak you really could have had a career in politics.
....and you don't answer straight questions for fear of being caught out. Penclawdd - Vote Comrade Dai.
....and you can't spell the word "passed". Education 'aint what it used to be. Kids reading - don't listen to the ignoramus. Get an education. Glad to be of help.
When the Job Centres are forcing your kids to take 0 hour jobs you know you have been licked, there is no longer any fight left in the working man, he has been divided and conquered by successive Tory parties since the Thatcher era. There is no unity in purpose no solidarity any more among the grass roots, when I go into the supermarkets and see the endless idiots working for Tesco's and the like, by filling their shopping trolleys with unmanned tills, it tells me all I need to know about the British worker. I will never use the automated tills, but too many Idiots are so self centred they do not realise the consequences of what they are doing in putting people out of work. I have been called many times by supermarket supervises to use these self service tills while waiting in the queue at manned tills, and I have told them in no uncertain terms where Tesco's and the like can stick these machines, I will never ever use them, and if everyone did the same then they would have to employ more counter staff, but unfortunately we live now in a 'I'm all-right jack' society and most are unaware of what is going on by the ruling classes and big business..............
Dragon I have never thought of it that way I have to be honest. From now on I will make sure iwill go to a staffed till.
Oh for goodness sake Vetch don't be such a drama queen! Who the hell in the UK is religious any more? I consider myself a Christian but even I recognise the landscape as it truly is, religion is dead and what's left will soon be buried by the political elite in due time, and I include the Satanic verses in that destruction too, chill will you and put your feet up in the knowledge that the day is fast coming when the worlds religions will be no more, I trust that will put a smile on your face you heathen! .................
I was once in a queue at Morrisons, when a rather pushy supervisor targeted me to use the automated tills, and she was bloody pushy I can tell you, so in front of an a audience of about 100 people I got on my soap box and gave her and the listening crowd a pep talk on why I and everyone else should not be using the bloody machines, and I got a rapacious applause from all with beaming smiles, and the dear old lady behind me whispered, "well done, I really fear for our younger generation, they haven't a clue". Because of the commotion I had made the manager came down and manned about another six tills, and his supervisor disappeared into the sunset blushing?............. My view is every little helps!............
Who has rattled your cage again? Well,if you listen to that archbishop fella, the one who wears the purple dress, the U.K. is still a christian country, and that would indicate that your assertion is not correct. Muslims are religious, and there's a lot of them out there. I could go on,but who needs any more fatwas. Religion will never die, there are too many people with a vested interest in keeping it alive, just like the Windsors. Oh,and I always smile when you post such endearments to me. Bless you my child.
....On a serious note religion has gone mate, you only need look at all the abandoned church buildings up and down the country, even their ecclesiastical colleges are closing because of lack of students, what you observe above is merely window dressing by the elite in an attempt to keep the status quo, Religion is no longer the 'opium of the masses' and in some respects that must worry the ruling elite with the decline in moral values that it brings, because it hits at big business profitability, that said most people believe in a supreme being, but that is not the same as being controlled by Christendom or the Muslim world.................
