Its better to have more choices than less Dave, I watch the CI channel or if not there's other documentary channels, some people probably watch game shows all the time or whatever but its the having the choice that matters imo.

    Sorry, mate.
Weekend World was another one that did my head in. It was a bit later on but I was still a teenager living at home and the old man chose what we watched.
To be fair, there wasn't much to choose from, but he would unerringly pick out the worst from what there was.

I ****ing loved What the papers say when it returned to TV especially when it was presented by a left wing journalist like Brian Reade.

Most of modern telly is the most unimaginable crap, but because there's so much of it even the tiny percentage of good stuff amounts to a fair amount of good stuff.
Each to his own, but I can't stand game show/Xfactor/BB/towie type stuff, but there have been some quite wonderful natural history, science and arts programmes on.

Choice is always good. But it wasn't choice that restricted our viewing in the 50's it was technology. Anyway, what was saint doing up watching What The papers Say, it was tha last programme before the Epilogue? - and on a school night too!! I blame the parents <laugh>

I must admit I didn't mind WTPS, I seem to remember it was quite witty and pithy.

When I was a youngster WTPS used to be late on a midweek evening.whilst Batman was on a Sunday evening.
This will show people's ages :-
I was reading in the Guardian earlier this week that Efram Zimblast Jr had died

WTPS was produced by Granada and originally presented by Bill Grundy.

As for Efram Zimbalist Jr wasn't he in 77 Sunset Strip and The FBI?
