    Sunday 11th May 2014
St Mary's Stadium 3 pm kick off

Saints go into the final match of the season guaranteed an 8th place finish and a record number of points in the Premier League and could finish only 5 points behind Man United. Saints come into the match on the back of 2 wins and a draw in the last 3 games, not conceding in any of those matches. United's form is variable having beat Hull last time out, but lost to Sunderland before that. This could be the last time we see some players in a Saints shirt (and no I'm not talking about Shaw or Lallana!) Guly is set to leave the club at the end of the season and players like Hooiveld could be surplus to requirements.

    Match officials:

    Referee: Mike Dean
    Assistants: S Bennett & D Eaton
    4th Official: Robert Madley

    Form guide:

    Southampton:

    Swansea 0-1 Southampton
    Southampton 2-0 Everton

    Aston Villa 0-0 Southampton
    Southampton 0-1 Cardiff
    Man City 4-1 Southampton

    Southampton 4-0 Newcastle

    Manchester United:

    Man United 3-1 Hull
    Man United 0-1 Sunderland
    Man United 4-0 Norwich
    Everton 2-0 Man United
    Newcastle 0-4 Man United
    Man United 4-1 Aston Villa

    Team news:

Saints have a few problems, with Rodriguez out long term and Ramirez has also been out injured for a while. Lambert should be fit to start after coming on against Swansea.

For United Phil Jones is ruled out after picking up a shoulder injury against Hull. United may give Wilson another start after 2 debut goals against Hull.

    Prediction:

Saints to end the season in style with a 2-1 win with Guly hitting the winner with a screamer from 30 yards. Or a tap in. Couldn't care less but Guly MUST score.

Would play the same team as last week, but with Rickie in from the start.

Absolutely no idea where to post this, and it's not really deserving of a new thread. So as it's in the lead-up to this game, here goes...

Fa cup final aside we have had many great premier league games against utd. The away draw this season was a good result and we will never forget the 6-3 and the 3-1 grey shirt debacle.

Wouldn't it be great to smash them again. Ryan Giggs may well have gone on the Old Trafford pitch and said the good times will be back - well not ****ing yet, they won't.

Just in case nobody noticed - Lawro thinks we'll win 2-1. Fat Boy Slim, this week's guest, think we'll lose 0-2. He is a Brighton supporter, so he might still be harbouring a grudge. Then again, it may be the truth.

This could well be a bit of an exhibition match. With nothing riding on the game at all and many players from both sides casting their eyes to the world Cup, I can't see a full bloodied hi tempo game for fear of injury. I do think there will be goals though and would love to see Guly score on his farewell. 4-3 saints.

Personally I'm looking forward to all the body language analysis if every player doesn't hug every fan in the place. Yes, I am aware that I am one of the worst for that. :) The sun is shining through the window at the moment, going to be a nice day, looking forward to a good game on Sunday when regardless of the score we have had a great season. We have a team that others are actually wary of playing, not just pretending when they say we are a good side. Whatever they say, ManU fans won't be overly confident of beating us...I would love to finish their season off on a low and ours on a high. COYR

Sunday will be Guly's day. Guly will come on for Adam after 65 minutes, score after 80 minutes and have to be replaced after jumping into the crowd and the crowd keep him. Kelvin Davis comes on up front to replace him... and scores!

    Adam Blackmore on Twitter:

Deja vu - off to #saintsfc, music on too loud for 8am - genuinely hoping this isn't my last pre-match with Poch, he's been good to work with

To clarify, as Poch would say - he's been good to work with despite language annoyances - a genuine warm man & top coach, like Eddie Howe

We've had very little real luck this year...every point has been well earned....but I think all our luck is arriving in a bucket at the end of the season. Fate is trying to level things up as shown by our last two matches. I'm going for a RVP own goal deciding the match.
