Mackay was found wanting in the PL last season. Look how defensive he set his team out when they cam here. Yes, he did get promotion at his first attempt, but the quality of football his side produced was not that great. Considering we were moaning how we have played this season, then is Mackay really the man for the job? Would we just use him to get us up, then sack him because he is lacking the nous for the PL?
Well I agree with Darren Eadie, we need to bring in someone with no connection to the club who will shake things up a la Paul Lambert. My choice is Lennon but I doubt he'd come now
I thought Malky showed considerable "nous" at CR this season. He could see his team was being overun in midfield and were surrendering possession too easily so he changed it ..... early ...... pulled off a striker and sent on an additional midfielder as well as swapping the lightweight Kim for Gunnarsson and that evened things up a little. We still bossed the game (as we did both times) but his changes had a material effect from what I saw. It wasn't pretty but it was pretty effective ......

Ridiculous choice if you ask me, he had a decent budget a Cardiff in comparison to other promoted clubs yet he signed a load of ****e, the brand of football he played a Cardiff was bland and uninspiring, also I don't want an ex player managing this club, Norwich fans have a bad habit of being too sentimental sometimes and they are quite often naive in regards to the harshness of this sport. We need to get this appointment correct there is no time to get it wrong I hope the board are doing their homework as we speak, other then that we need to hold onto as many players as possible and get in some players with leadership abilities then we could stand a good chance.
I know this guys not everyone cup of tea, but he knows how to get teams promoted + got passion & take no rubbish from the players - Neil Warnock. Got no links with the club ie. not played for us or managed us, even for 1 or 2 seasons he could do a job for us. We could do alot worse, i would rather have him than Malky Mackay or Neil Lennon. I know i might be the only one, but that my choice.

As on other threads, there is a logic to Lennon coming if certain conditions are met. Decent budget, retain most players, so high chance of making it straight back up, gets to develop the team away from the glare of the premiership, and then gets to ply his trade in the PL. The likelihood of him getting another PL team is limited and connections have already been made.
At this point, it looks like there's two schools of thought when looking to appoint the next manager. Someone to get us up immediately, or someone capable of building a style for the whole club, in the way we once hoped Hughton would. To me, Warnock is the intermediate between those views. Irrespective of what you think of the man, I think he'd almost certainly get us a play-off spot next season, and could well have us challenging for the autos. I'm sure I've seen him say before that he's not too far from wanting to retire, and I could see him getting us promoted as his way of ending his career in style. At the end of the season, I could see him being happy to stand down and bow out successfully, and let us bring in a new man to craft a style for us, but with Premier League funds to support him. I can't think of another manager right now that we could take a similar approach with. Anyone at the beginning or in the middle of their career is going to want to stay for the Premier League season. Few tried and tested managers could both develop a style for a club, and get them promoted quickly. I'm certainly not Warnock's biggest fan, but we've been too nice of late and a bit of passion and fight might be exactly what the club needs. The rest of the football league can (perhaps rightfully) regard him as a bastard, but mostly they thought the same about Holt. Warnock knows the league, he's got teams out of the championship before, and (apart from his spell at QPR) he's never had huge budgets to do it with. If someone can think of another manager we could employ a similar tactic with, I'm certainly open to suggestions as he's certainly not my favourite person! Warnock was interviewed several years ago and would be well worth considering again. From his interview comments, he does get on well with Delia. His teams have always been competitive, have played attractive football and he has the balls to get nasty when he needs to. He has got teams promoted before and has good contacts to get the players in that we need.
