Caulker would be good but pricey Turner good for depth Richardson would be good for left back spot but imagine high wages Sidwell would be ideal for us Mutch would be good too
I'd actually take Fraizer Campbell. Useful squad player I 'spose. Jordan Mutch always looked a handful, and proved he can score goals. Steven Sidwell possibly, but I wouldn't want to take THUD out of that holding midfield role. It's his most effective position IMO. Ashkan Dejagah looked good for Fulham. Can be a good replacement for when Elmo's off the boil. Even though he's a total twat, and has one of the most 'punchworthy' faces in football, I would take ex TWS Snodgrass. Michael Turner would be good for defensive options rather than having Alex Bruce. Norwich can have Bruce.
So they can wait to sign him, he's been great all season, and he's great at defending but useless going forward?
Turner and Redmond from Norwich. (Snodgrass off to Celtic by all accounts) Dejagah from Fulham. Nobody from Cardiff. (Marshall and Caulker are wanted by both Liverpool and Spurs according to the rumour mills.)
Dejagah - two goals and everyone is drooling. Not for me, wouldn't even feature in a list of 1,000 probables.
Not the role Sidwell plays at all - he's no deep-lying holding man. He would be an alternative to Livermore or an upgrade on Meyler.
Sidwell, Redmond, Mutch are about the only ones I would take. Don't think Turner would want to come but would be a good buy if we could get him.
Sidwell would be my number one target.Agree with OLM I rate Sidwell more highly than Livermore and if Spurs are wanting £5m./£6m. for Jake I wouldn't even think of signing him. Would like to see us sign Redmond but he would command a transfer fee which would probably be beyond our means.Ideally I would not wish to see our debt to the Allams increase.
cardiff maybe mutch none really stand out for me Fulham another vote for sidwell possibly Parker to play the holding midfield role (not sure he would want to move north) Norwich Redmond , snodgrass , possibly fer but think all would command sizeable transfer fees
I think the only problem with Sidwell is wages, he wouldn't sign a new deal at Fulham because they wouldn't offer him anywhere near what they were paying Parker and he's on big money.
In his Chelsea days i'm sure it was reported he left Reading to join them on a reported £50k per week so suspect its not much different now. For me a good player but his best days are likely to be behind him. Fulham turned us over on the last midfielder we bought from them, not again please!
I think Sidwell would be worthwhile on around 20-25k a week on a 2/3 year deal. He is a good player, not a world beater but with the demands of Europe he would be useful. Also the fact we are in Europe does make us a more interesting proposition that say another lower ranked Prem team. I would group us currently with Sunderland, West Brom, West Ham, Crystal Palace and Stoke as a lower ranked Prem team that would go for the same players. Our advantage is Europe that whatever people think about it is an attractive prospect for players. I have always been surprised that Hull does not have more connections with Dutch and Belgium clubs given the proximity to their locality. Seems like a missed opportunity.
According to this: http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/fulhams-steve-sidwell-rejects-one-year-2658269 ...it was the length of the contract, not the wages. If wages are OK, I'd be happy to see us offer him a 2-year deal.
£50k?!?! That utter bollocks, it'll be nothing like. That was at the height of his reputation in a move to a club that at the time were paying some of the highest wages in Europe. He's now out of contract from a relegated club. £25k per week, 2yr deal and we've got a chance.
