What picture house did you go to for the Saturday morning matinée?

I went to the Regent in Old Swan and the Carlton in Tuebrook.

My parents told me about it. Shame it didn't last it was a real Liverpool iconic landmark. The tunnels are still visible in Dingle, there's a Green's gym [recently changed name] next to one of them now.

The Abbey is a supermarket now, don't know what happened to the Odeon though.

Why is this a 'Liverpool Memory'? Was it Formby beach, as that's not strictly Liverpool>

For my birthday, my old feller always took me and some mates to watch a newly released film at that cinema with the ****ing huge cinerama screen. I've now forgotten the name of it, but it was the only one in Liverpool back in the day. Can anyone remember what it was called?

That answers my earlier question, I think. That was the one with the big screen wasn't it?

Odeon became the Classic then they knocked down the original building put up a new little block including a Tesco and the pictures went on the upper floor - that's closed now too.

Yes the Abbey had a big screen. In the 60s they made it into a Cinerama screen. The first film shown there in Cinerama was The Sound of Music.

I made a mistake when I called it the Carlton it was the Plaza <ok> I think the Carlton was in the Dingle on the corner by the bus sheds. Dave did you go to it before 1971 because that's when it was knocked down and became a totally different building.
