I don't think he will drop to #23 but if he does we have to take him IMO. This season won't be too good as we won't have strengthened in areas we need to but it would be a good start for the future.
This draft is meant to be very deep in most positions, so taking the best player available, even if it is not in a real position of need is probably a good strategy. Think Bridgewater to the Chiefs makes a lot of sense in that regard. I don't think Bridgewater gets past the Vikings at 8 though, unless Khalil Mack is still available. They have had him in for few days during the first offseason training camp, which is either a massive bluff, or they want to see how he does with the players on the team. Even if Mack is there at 8 I can see Vikings trading back into the bottom of the first round and taking Bridgewater.
There is a lot of potential in this draft as you say. My hope is Texans wish to trade back in to first round and hand over their second and third or forth round pick - think we can still get a decent WR and OG with those picks.
Vikings GM Rick Spielman is suggesting none of the QBs should be drafted in the first round. Interesting, but probably bullshit, there's no point in thinking people are being genuine this close to the draft. Smokescreens everywhere.
Spielman is the guy responsible for drafting Ponder and, despite being generally successful with his other picks, that was such a f**k up that if he gets it wrong again he is gone. That is the main reason why I could see Vikings passing on a QB in the first round and getting one in the second, so both the QB and Spielman aren't under loads of pressure for him to perform straight away. As you say though it is probably all bull****, no idea what to believe
Not sure who I'd like the Seahawks to take, as they have a couple of pretty glaring needs on OLine and receiver. If Su'a-Filo was available at #32, it would be tempting to take him.
Earl Thomas signed to a 4 year $40 million contract, making him the highest paid Safety in the league. Just gotta tie up Sherman now...
So I placed a bet on Jadeveon Clowney being no 1 pick in the draft, got 8/11 odds for him, which I thought was very good value. Obviously now I have placed it I am having 2nd thoughts My thought process is that even though the Texans don't really need a DE, they would be stupid to take anyone else over him at no 1 as nobody else is really a no 1 overall pick. Ideal scenario (for them and for me) is that somebody trades with them for the first pick to get Clowney. They move back, get a QB at say 10 or so and a few more picks. If nobody is willing to trade with them then still they surely must take Clowney over Bortles/Manziel?
I think it'll be Clowney too. I don't know that it should be, but I think people are too scared to pass up on his potential - if he ends up being the star he can be (however likely that is), nobody wants to be the team that passed him up.
Yeah, every mock draft I have seen recently has him going at number 1, with some even describing it as a lock now, so thought 8/11 was very generous. Haven't put loads on so would be annoyed but not completely skint if he didn't go number 1 Less than a week until opening night of the draft, looking forward to it. It is on Sky over here isn't it?
It is on Sky, but it's got Neil Reynolds and Kevin Cadle so it's not worth watching. If you can find an NFL Network stream it'd be better, or I think nfl.com does some slightly different free coverage anyway. I'd go to great lengths to avoid Reynolds and Cadle. Reynolds admits he doesn't watch any college football so why he's the ****ing figurehead for the draft in this country is beyond me. He spent a good ten minutes talking about "Roger" Griffin before the 2012 draft.
Reynolds is a twat anyway. Literally no one likes him. I'll make sure to post a good NFL Network stream if I find one next week
NFL Gamepass has a free trial going, if you do that then you can watch the NFL Network coverage of the draft, which is easily the best coverage.
Just reminiscing over Wembley One of the best Sundays ever.
Well this could be funny http://ftw.usatoday.com/2014/05/for...-picks-get-to-choose-their-own-entrance-music Wonder who will come out to the Undertakers music?
You'd have to do Steve Austin. Glass shatters, stomp on stage, give Goodell a stunner and you'd be the most popular player in the NFL before you'd played a snap.
Btw, did anyone see the SW Mock Draft on the NFL website? http://www.nfl.com/photoessays/0ap2000000346372/star-wars-mock-draft Quite amusing.
