they don't have to admit their own failings. They don't have to evaluate or renew "the Swansea way". The board won't have to listen to critical voices from within. They won't employ a director of sports. They're failsafe. From a power retaining point-of-view this is the best solution. Not a big surprise that the decision to employ Monk was unanimous. This will continue business as usual. Which is not for the clubs best: when you've had a good season you need change to get even better, in this case it wasn't a successful season, there is a crawe for change: to survive next season. It's missing, and the employment of Monk is a sign that change, even evaluation, won't happen. Swansea are the Fulham of the future...
Actually Mikra the sound bites suggest that they have evaluated proceedings under Laudrup against those of Roberto and Brendan and decided that Laudrup's was the incorrect way for Swansea to be run etc and have therefore reverted back to the successful models of the past. Maybe Laudrup will come out and admit to his failings as he seems to suffer second season syndrome at each club he manages. In simple they have evaluated, and in their eyes, have returned to the Swansea Way which has been more than succesful for the club.
In fairness though Valley, just because ML had his major failings at his previous clubs, doesn't necessarily mean that is the case here. Just like because the board have hired well the last few times, doesn't mean they get it right now. An example I could use is that Swansea (since the takeover), have been promoted after every 3rd season in a league. That didn't happen this season, granted it cannot, but we were not far away from the complete opposite. The point being, just because something has worked, or has always happened, doesn't mean it will continue, there is an end to pretty much everything.
But we could argue that it was tried a different way this season under Laudrup and look at the state of the club now. But let's kick the club down at every opportunity. I guarantee, we will not end up like Fulham next season if we get back to the Swansea Way under Monk.
The state of the club now is not Laudrup's doing but the doing of HJ / Board / Monk ... for dozens of reasons, independently and collectively. To pin where we are now on Laudrup is absurd.
So Laudrup is blameless is he Yankee? Read the statements, Laudrup created a mess behind the scenes and the board have been impressed by how Monk is getting the club back to the traditions and ethos of the past 10 years. What we have witnessed is the fall out from Monk cleaning/trying to clean up Laudrup's mess. It's absurd that you think that Laudrup's hands are clean in this mess.
I did not say his hands a clean ... but before you go hanging him out to dry and being the loan scapegoat .... please for everybody's benefit do define the "mess" he has apparently created. Let me see: a) Winning a cup, beating Liverpool and Chelsea (Euro Champions) on the way to our highest finish in 30 years. b) Bringing in Michu for a pittance of his now market value (injury notwithstanding) c) Bringing Ben Davies forward. d) Resurrecting Routledge e) Bringing in Pablo f) Bringing in JDG ... now a full Dutch international ... and the possibility of acquiring him g) Bringing in Amat and Poz for a pittance, each must be worth more now. f) Bringing in Canas on a free - now easily worth more than zero and, dealing with g) usurpation from Monk, Williams and very reluctantly Leon h) minimal support in the contract management and player transfer market (e.g. Ki, Ngog, Emnes - fine acquisitions the last two - if the Board were sooooo worried about our predicament at the end of January, then FFS these two guys were going to turn it around) i) HJ not having the smarts and the balls to put Monk in his place and support the manager ..... just like what happened to Sousa. Go define the MESS, but be intellectually honest and do a full accounting of both sides of the ledger and let's see where the bulk of the "blame" lies.
Points a-f are all from the previous season which is arguably the best season in the history of the football club. As for minimal support in the transfer market : Michu, Chico, Pablo, JDG x 2, Amat, Scheter, Vazques, Tiendalli x 2, Jonjo, Ki, Bony, Poz, Canas, Lamah, Bartley. These acquisitions blow hat myth out of the water too. What do you expect Ronaldo and Messi?
Like you have you mean? Where is the evidence that Leon was complaining? I thought they were rumours?
Monk has been our Savior, he has brought the club back from disaster and turmoil that laudrup put us in and just in the nick of time too. Jinx was never going to let laudrup drag us down further than he did as many of us were begging him to step in before it got to the point of no return and thank god he listened to the fans and the players and sacked the useless excuse for a manager. He is still out of work today sniffing around his old clubs looking for a job. If he had done what he was employed to do and stick to the philosophy of the club then he might have achieved what past managers with us have achieved and that is being wanted by bigger clubs...Well he blew it big time and now no big club will come near him....His ego got the better of him and now he must pay the price. he is history..
I'll bet he's taken all his gongs, accolades and shirts off the wall and stuck them in the bin after reading that Dai. I'll bet he's sobbing into his white satin sheets in his mansion. You give yourself away son. Every post you make shows you up for the scumbag you are. Remember Blackburn? How their ungrateful, spoiled, arrogant fans chased every manager out of the door and made one good man's life hell? That's you. You're the type of fan who does that. They are still in the process of getting what they deserve. I reckon they've got to drop at least one more level yet. Let's hope that doesn't happen to us eh? Although some ****ing deserve it. Monk the ****ing saviour I cannot ever remember Dai being right about anything. Perhaps some should bare that in mind.
Problem for me with Monk getting the job is that during his probationary period our football has got worse. Saying that though I have faith in the board and obviously they see something good in him. Either that or they're a bunch of tight-arses.
A sentiment shared and repeated. How some, including the board it seems, say they want to get back to Swansea's principles and appoint GM is beyond me. Still what's done is done and until he's sacked he gets my support.
There is no way of coming back to successful ways of the past. Time, evolution and history are progressive, and cannot be reverted. It's like going back to a woman you've left: it will never be the same. It may become good, but you both need to mature and grow as human beings for it to work.
Yet another foolish post from the arch purveyor of foolishness. He's consistent though,I'll give him that.
