Sports Capital have issued a winding up petition against Leeds, the figure is around £950,000 owed from a loan last November. Leeds also owe Haigh personally another £780,000 or thereabouts, but this figure is not part of the petition. Leeds have failed to make the payment to Sports Capital, and this follows hot on the heels of the HMRC and Enterprise Insurance problems, both of which have been settled by Cellino. Hopefully this is the last of the debts that can attract trouble. Clearly Haigh is not happy with Cellino forcing him out of the club, and he hasn't hung about once Leeds missed the loan repayment deadline. So much for caring about Leeds, although this is definitely aimed at Cellino. I do worry a bit about Cellino shooting from the lip and picking fights. Surely he could have handled Haigh a little better whilst showing hom the door rather than telling the media he was intending to fire him once he got the takeover sorted. Publicly humiliating someone is not a good thing, even if the person you are aiming at is a noob. I'm all for Cellino sorting out the club his way, I'm just not sure picking fights and firing off verbal volleys in the press is the right way to go. Here's hoping Cellino doesn't develop a habit of getting Leeds into hot water. "For the sake of Leeds United he would break himself in two"
It's his way seemingly. We'd better get used to it. What a class act Haigh and his cronies proved to be. And remember he's a lifelong supporter and will give his shares back to the fans too, so can't be all bad
I think emperor Haighs clothes are now fully visible to everyone. The pr spin was just that, he is no more a Leeds fan than Alex Ferguson. We were only ever a means to make money. Hate to say I told you so, but I told you so! Now don't forget those who helped peddled the myth by claiming to be ITK at the very beginning of his involvement. Take a bow Gary. We need to worry in case MCs pockets aren't deep enough...
I know it is paper talk but this was in the Daily Mirror 3-4 days ago, they added a few more mounting debts and also mentioned that it makes a mockery of Cellino claiming he would buy ER back in week one and they too questioned if his pockets were deep enough.
I would be genuinely worried Cellino may not have deep enough pockets to get things done as quick as we'd hoped. Just glad he didn't bother with FFP or he never would have touched us and we'd now be in admin likely. I think his approach may be to get the outstanding debts sorted over next year, run down the wasters contracts, incl mcds, as none of them will have a resale value. That will trigger McCormacks move of course but if his fee can be fully reinvested in rebuilding a new squad, we should be ok. If it's not a quick fix, remember it's not Cellinos fault but the legacy he was left with. I'd sure as he'll rather have him at the helm at this crucial time than any of our previous chairmen, owners, ****ers or whatever the hell you want to call them
If you were to name all those singing haighs and gfh praises, it would be a very long list. Wasn't just gc
I "sang" Haigh's praises when he put his hand in his pocket to bail us out when GFH started to fcuk around and didn't want to pay any more bills as they sought to push a takeover through ... I personally never thought of Haigh as a leader of our club, at most a board member who invested ... the real rotten apples are those idiots at GFH who behaved like money brokers, and almost drove us onto the rocks ... Haigh is asking for his loan back now that he has left the club, his right to do so, but I don't agree with the way he's doing it ... the point of the article is not Haigh though, because it could be anyone submitting a petition against us ... the point is will Cellino's outspoken (and sometimes crass) methods harm us going forward ... in Italy a "passionate" outburst is tolerated because its the norm, in England its not very welcome "For the sake of Leeds United he would break himself in two"
Regardless of what he says, the winding up orders will continue as long as unpaid debtors continue to appear. The club has been a slipshod mess for a decade and Cellino will be forced to pay the awful price, ultimately impacting the squad and fans as per usual with much needed funds going everywhere except into the playing side
Indeed it was. He also went on to extol all Haighs virtues for months afterwards until it became apparent that there would be no seat on the board, and only then did he start to ask the questions tha should have been asked right from the start. at least LUST are not culpable under Cellino as he is quite rightly ignoring them. Seats on the board shouls only be available to those who are able to invest enough or bring enough business experience to the table to justify it. LUST under Jabba do neither. Hindsight is a wonderful thing, but I was saying this a year ago!
I am not as confident as you that Cellino has pockets deep enough for all the skeletons coming out of cupboards. Even if he does, he might decide enough is enough.....
I think his pockets are deep enough - but I wouldn't expect massive investment in the team over the summer, nor would I blaim him for not digging to deep with all of this ****. But one thing, I don't think he will do is give up on us, he might be a bit extrovert and eccentric (spelling?) but he is passionate that's for sure.
Evening Este, sorry I missed you Saturday mate I think Cellino will have known that Leeds United owed Haigh some money, after all, every ****er and his dog knew, so its hardly a skeleton in the cupboard.
