Chester The Welsh Man.

Both of those two have lived here since they were very little. I'd say that qualifies them enough to represent England

 

Yes. I don't have a problem with 'foreigners' who maybe born abroad to foreign parents playing for England if they have been brought up in England. They will have grown up English, England is what they know, it's right for them to represent their country - the country where they're from.

What I can't abide is people who move to play abroad once of a cultured age and qualify by spending 5 years in said country. I'd love to see a player of Artetas ability in England's stores but I'd hate to see him represent England. He's not English and whilst he's been here a long time he's just not English. Januzaj is not English, he was 15/16 when he came here, he was already a person cultured to whatever ****hole he grew up in. He's not bloody English, he can **** off.

Zahand Sterling are English, maybe not by birthright, but how can you possibly say otherwise? I think both were toddlers when they moved here, this country adopted them and made them the people they are today so they have a genuine right to represent their country.

My family for generations before me is full of yorkshiremen, my parents are both from the East Riding, but I wasn't born there or raised there, I'm not a Yorkshireman. Same thing.

 

Play for the Country you was born in, never mind all this Granny twelth removed ****!!

 

Yep, that stuff is ridiculous and all.

But I don't think you should have to be born in the country you play for, rather lived there from a properly young age (under 5 or so) or long enough that you have grown up as a said-countryman and are rightfully part of that country.

 

Well when in Chester we always used to sing "You're Welsh and you know you are"

In truth, Coleman is building a team around Bale and Ramsey and he obviously sees Chester as a useful addition.

 

I'd be happy to see wales do well, I feel no anonymity towards them unlike they do to us. It's good for English football if the home nations do well as most their good players are products of, or play in the English league set up.

Bit disappointed Chezzy has opted to join them as I really do think he could make it in the next couple of years, but oh well. More reason to be happy to see the walesish do well.

 

Have to disagree MH. Just like Yorkshire cricket when blokes drove back into Yorkshire with their pregnant wives so they was eligible.

Before they allowed foreign larkers of course.

 

I never have any qualms with players that choose other nations to play international football.



Chester isn't good enough for England but he should get game time for Wales.

 

I was born over Yorkshire soil. My old man made sure he had a bagful at hand and stuck it under the hospital bed whilst I was beginning my superstar entrance.

I think it can only do him good as a player, clearly playing against top opposition week in week out will help him. The only issue is he has had a lot of injuries would of done him some good to have some time off.

 

I'm only half-Yorkshire, but that half's been in Yorkshire for ages.

 

Some Yorkshire is better than nowt mate.

 

It's obviously good for Chester but I don't like it.

He's English.

If they're the worst examples of non-English players, having moved here aged 4 and 5, then that's not so bad if you ask me.

It's the ones who didn't live in a country at all as a child that are dodgy.
