I went a few seasons back and there were some pubs near the station. As i recall there wasn't too much going on around the ground

In terms of a stop off on the way there is a nice hotel in Sandbach http://www.chimneyhouse-hotel.co.uk/

Just of J17 M6. Decent bar meals and a nice change from the usual services.

Just off Jnct 25 there's the Taybarn. Or go on to 26 and at the top of the slope turn left (to Orrell). 100 yds on the left there's a pub/restaurant called Hungry Horse

Didn't we play them at 11:30 or something stupid there a couple of years ago? I distinctly remember a mediocre breakfast in a Frankie and Benny's by the ground.

Wetherspoons near station area is always good value to eat and drink in. It's also a hotel, but could not get booked in. Excellent website recommended by UTRs. Some useful info. Only my second away this season, other was at Goodison. We were there but the team wasn't. Sure it will be different this time?

I can second that, it's just up the road from me. Can remember waiting outside there once for the team to leave for a game at Crewe, if it was good enough for them......
