Huge ban coming for Jamie Spencer, clearly mistook the winning line by about a furlong. Joking aside Angel Gabriel must be worth following as I have never seen a horse except Frankel that could be expected to sustain his run from four furlongs out, especially over 2 miles around a bend, and he nearly did it. If you watch back Jamie breaks three quarters back and purposely takes a pull to get his horse to the very back (not sure why) If he had stayed where he was and tried to make an easy place or two during the race I feel that burst through the field in the final two would have won him the race. Taking into account the ride given the runner up must be a better horse than the winner.
Spencer, fine line between genius and something else. Was nearly ride of the season. Confessional 18/1 will do for me in the next.
I agree he would have been called a genius had he pulled it off but to my mind it was suicide and even had it worked it would still have been as I read it now, which is that Angel Gabriel is a very well handicapped horse which nearly allowed suicidal tactics look genius. With a better start he would have won that for sure in my book. I think he is an Ebor horse as he stays and has a turn of foot, make use of him in an Ebor so he can make it a real test and still accelerate.
Angel Gabrial broke ok, just Spencer knows how to ride Chester better than anyone and knows the place to be is out the back and come late I agree with Bluesky win or not it was crazy. Nice winner Boris/Joe/Eddie/Mog
Hang on, you would all be slaughtering Spencer had he held him up at the back and not got the horse into the race. Look at the result, how many horses who were held up off the pace finished around him? It was a fine adaption of riding style after seeing how the race had been run. Clearly he could have had him closer from the off, but if they thought the race was going to be run differently, he had to adapt and he did. Fair play to him I say.
Or he got a horse placed that probably would have finished further back. We will see if he is a progressive horse next time out, or whether it was just a good ride that got him placed today.
Boom! Get in Lemon Gent. Made to work and wasn't sure coming going to do it coming out of the back straight. Result though!
Not sure on figures Wooley but know he's had a few. I remember about this time a few years ago he had a purple spell and following him made me a good few quid. Ben Case a trainer to watch to.
