Has anyone read this book? I was talking to a fellow Red last night who's just finished it. Apparently, Kenny appears fairly prominently in it. I find this hard to believe. The author is an investigative journalist who is appently well-respected. He's written for a number of papers including the Echo. Can anyone comment on this? Cheers.
Saintanton. Thanks for the link. I didn't know about any of that. It's God help any player (or club) that refuses a move to Anfield then!!!!
I haven't read the book so I guess there's a lot more to it. Without reading it I can't get the feel of whether there's any evidence against Kenny or whether he's just pissed someone off and so they're slagging him. Any business involving a huge amount of money is going to have criminals getting their sticky little fingers into it. You only have to look at FIFA to see how corruption gets in right at the top.
What's the accusation? There are gangsters involved in football agenting so every manager and club is involved with gangsters? By that definition so are journalists. The writing's confusing over Dalglish. It appears to allege he got some muscle to protect Stretford but Stretford was threatened. I don't get it. As for not giving evidence to the police, I've no doubt there's a lot of phone-tapping evidence still unrevealed on Fleet Street. So gangsters got involved in football and...erm....footballers got decent contracts out of it rather than the restrictive ripoffs they used to get from the darling old philanthropic owners. It kinda reminds me of Peter Grant and Richard Cole with Led Zeppelin. They changed the music industry with muscle, threats and violence. I guess in some industries that's what it takes to get things done.
I just started reading it before the Epic Swindle book came. That is a very important read for all Reds fans. It highlights just how much Rafa loved the club and the city.
Joe. Is that the Brian Reade book? One of my mates is reading it at the moment and will be lending it to me. I've just finished "a season on the brink" about Rafa. It makes it clear in that too.
Of course, Dalglish saves the day! You Scousers really believe he's whiter than white don't you And you wonder why he's not been knighted.......
