Each to their own, I guess. I have a Jock mother but can't imagine ever choosing to represent Scotland at anything.

I suppose he thinks he will get more of a chance in the Welsh team then the England Team so if is what he wants good luck to him.

Fair play to him, he obviously knows his chances of ever playing for England are very slim (even more so with that blithering idiot currently in charge), so he's chosen the closest thing he can get.

I'd fully expect him to get called up as well - the other CBs who were called up for Wales last time round were Danny Gabbidon, Ashley Williams and James Collins.

It would be nice to see him playing with our old friend Sam Ricketts too.

How old was Cahill when he became a proper England player? How old is he now for that matter?

Bags and bags of time for Chezzy yet, hes still in his maiden EPL season, and there's a distinct lack of classy English centre halves like him. I hope England and the chap himself aren't made to rue this decision in years to come, I'm sure he's got a good chance of making the grade.

    Good luck to him though.

Cahill was 25, and Jagielka was 26 when they first got their international caps.

Surprised at his choice. As you say, he has ages. And we are hardly loaded with top quality CB's at the moment... And I can't see where any others are going to come from!?

Hope he doesn't go on to regret his decision...

He was a year younger than Chester when he got his first call-up and the same age when he made his first appearance.

It doesn't matter, as long as Hodgson is in charge Chris Smalling will continue to get called up, pushing others out of the frame.

Did I read somewhere that Davies has said he'd play for Ireland if he can't get into the England squad?

I hate Chris Smalling even more now.

Something I honestly thought wasn't possible.

If he took a **** and posted it through my letterbox I don't think I could find another level of hate for him.

Good luck to Chez, he's got good people around him and he'll have got some sound advice regarding this decision.

I think Chezzy could play a holding mid-field roll like Bruce has done on occasions, he is good and the ball just does lack a bit of height at the back?

    Didn't take long...

    BBC Humberside Sport ‏@HumbersideSport
Hull City defender James Chester has been called up for Wales for the friendly against Holland next month.

Well, like I said, when Gabbidon, Williams and Collins are your only centre backs, Chezzy is bound to get a look in.

This is the way football is going, accept it.

If you want to improve your game, you need to play international level

I dont blame James Chester at all. If he can play for Wales then good for him. With England being a snobs paradise with little talent at least Chezza will get to play in the same team with a genuine world class player.

Yes. With that clueless Woy bloke in charge the England squad is a closed shop. Cannot wait to see which mis-fits he picks for Brazil from that Luton car showroom on monday.

Could not agree more John. SB is doing great with with our backline for most of the season.

More to the point, England will do well to finish 3rd in the group in Brazil. Costa Rica wont be easy.

Italy and Uruguay will walk into the next stage.

England isn't even England anymore when the likes of Zaha and Sterling get called up. The fact they even considered Januzaj is a fallacy.
