Utting Ave was the overspill area for coach parking on matchdays when priory Rd was full, away supporters pissing in the gardens, leaving their litter and fighting with the Liverpool scallies, shame really because its a nice area.
I cringe now thinking of some of the things we did as street kids. Apart from sitting on the roof of the bog trying to shoot down chimney pots and stuff, your mention of banger-throwing reminded me: The street lamps by us had a small hole in the inspection plates (ventilation, presumably)- we used to imagine bangers were sticks of dynamite, light them and stuff them down the hole in an attempt to bring the lamp-post down. It never worked, sadly. I never used to put them through people's letter boxes though, or throw them at anyone unsuspecting. We were nice kids.
They do mate. I sometimes park in the grounds of the care home up near the King Harry and the kids still do the car minding in the streets opposite
Like the little scally said to a man parking his car in a street near the ground.."hey mister do you want us to mind yer car for you?, it'll be here when her come back honest" "No its ok son my pet rottweiler is in the back seat so its ok" "Hey mister can your rottweiler put fires out"
I have parked in the ground car park on a corporate ticket [once or twice ] but it's better getting dropped and picked.
Maybe we should start an old timers reds thread - so as not to bore the youngsters. Memories of Shanks and the boys pen days, pies and Bovril .... - dave can be thread manager
Billy started a thread about olds worlde Liverpool related stuff a few months ago but I'm to lazy to go and look for it.
No wonder the girls scream if you throw your maggot at them. Never went fishing- used to chuck half-chewed sweets at people in the rows in front at the pictures though.
A mate of mine moved from the holy land to Mossley Hill, his Mum on her first visit couldn't contain herself 'oh look there's a tree' - she couldn't wait to tell her friends. He said it was like taking her on her holidays every time.
trying to teach my 7yr old to do the kick against the wall and try and control it, but she just keeps toe punting it lol. 4 yrd old i think is going to be in theatre of some kind as she is so expressive with everything she does, and does that hand thing. they both love dancing and ballet, just have to pray they are not serious about it as its ruddy expensive lol
