So there's been a few articles online about GM going to need some experienced backroom staff to help him next season (assuming he gets the job which he will). Where do you think we'll go for this backroom staff? Personally, though we wouldn't be able to afford it, I'd go for Phil Whelan and Renee Meulensteen. They ran the show (training etc) while Fergie was the figurehead and great man-manager and motivator of Man Utd and I feel that experience would be awesome. Who would you like to see brought in or would you like us not to get anyone and we'll just 'enjoy' the white-knuckle ride next season?
Master, I was thinking about Rene this morning. Should be able to afford him. He needs to rebuild his rep after the disaster at Fulham. Another might have been the late Garry Speeds number 2, but isn't he with the Dutch set up?
Vetch, I dont think he actually does much now or over the time he has been there. He is more of and old swansea name to be seen on match days. Lets pray we employ a good number 2 who can coach and be good tactically, to direct Monk when things are going wrong as they will. RM would be superb.
Making sure you are appointed Captain of the ship Maybe Curtis has had enough. He did reject the chance to be manager before Monk took over. Probably has limited impact on training etc these days.
Curtis has a huge input and has under each of the managers, he just doesn't make a fuss about it and has said he really is happy doing what he does. Quite a slur on Curt to suggest otherwise. I had heard he was looking to ease off a little when he was approaching 60 but have heard nothing since. I think it is telling that we are already talking about how vastly important it is to get in an experienced number 2!
Curtis has taken over as temporary 'in charge' / manager for the odd game(s) previously and stated at those times he would never consider it as a permanent option. So nothing to read into him not wanting to take over recently.
Curtis has been in and out of our club more than a fiddlers elbow. He does very little when it comes to coaching, I have never seen any manager consult with him during games. if he does so much why didnt the likes of Rodgers take him or are you going to tell me he was offered something. His current position is down as 1st team coach and Match day host.
Curtis has had practically every job that you could possibly have at the club and has been the number two on many occasions, He is very active at the club and still takes training sessions at all levels. Managers come and managers go and the same with backroom staff but Alan always stays, He is known as Mr Swansea the legend at the club and probably works the hardest there, there is not one department that he cant work with and give valuable advice too. He is an amazing character who we all have to give thanks too ..
