Leaving FFP aside for a moment. The write-offs referred to H&G costs. Now, we are learning to our expense just how contorted some of their contracts actually were. I cannot say it definitely but it would not surprise me that some of them were not used as vehicles to extract money from the club. However, there is always a limit to the amount of work that lawyers, architects and consultants will undertake before they start charging fees - unless they have contracted from the start to offer their services on a pro bono basis.

Yes all you need to do to build a stadium is fill in a form and make some drawings <doh>

Words are words - it's the intent behind them that is important. So you stick to your fact and I'll stick to the intent that was behind them. FACT.

The 50K capacity stadium that we were planning to build at Kirkby was going to cost £78m to construct.

After it passed planning it went to Govt appeal that incurred massive legal bills and yet the total cost of the failed scheme was still only around £3.5m

I know the Stadium of Light is not the last word in avant gard architecture, but it is great compared to Roker Park (and Anfield as it is now), but Bob Murray our former Chairman build it for around £20m, he also sorted out the FAs training ground place for a reasonable cost fee also, not sure if he did Wembley.

If you let architects and lawyers get too involved the fees will be huge.

  9. All well and good except the other clubs get more or less the same too.

hahaha, so having read it again and realising that you were wrong and I didn't definitively say what you accused me of, you've now applied your own 'intent' to what I said and declared yourself correct, brilliant <laugh>

No I wasn't any more wrong than you were. But your history as agent provocateur on this board stands to condemn you. Therefore I feel very confident that you hoped to claim your negative opinion as fact.

So there's something dark about your objection to being presented with a mirror comment.

You were, as you claimed that I made an assertion that I simply didn't - the end.

As it stands all I've given is my opinion on your 'stadium costs' which in my book, at face value simply don't stack up and have had no explanation offered as to what they consist of in the public domain. What UEFA make of your accounts is another thing entirely, they may pass, they may not, I've no idea.

A real life example of a recent stadium plan that didn't end up being completed, but had the massive extra cost of a Govt inquiry strapped to it, and yet the costs were lest than 10% of what you lot are claiming was the cost of SP.

Does FFP apply to the Europa league? Kenwright probably doesn't want people looking too closely at his books.

Oh come on Gerrez anyone with an ounce of common would question that number, if that was at any other club than yours you'd think it was suss, given the current context.
