We never tire of offering our strident views on tactics, team selection etc on here (and quite right too, thats what the forum is for), and sometimes someone asks 'what are your qualifications to comment' - the response usually being linked to having played football at some level or another. I have no qualifications whatsoever (I was such a dodgy player that twice I had to help set teams up from scratch to get a game. Oh, and the basic FA Coaching badge. I can organise warm ups brilliantly) though that will never stop me sharing my opinions (or, to be more accurate, truths). What about the top 4 Premiership managers? Pellegrini - played in the Chilean first division for a few seasons, but was studying at the same time as a civil engineer Rodgers - retired at age 20 with a knee problem while at Reading Mourinho - failed to make the grade as a kid Wenger - closest to the real deal, a total of 12 French Ligue 1 appearances for Strasbourg, most of his playing career in the amateur leagues. Says he learned most about tactics and human behaviour listening to people in his parents pub in Alsace. Probably meaningless, but the technocrats seem to be on the rise. Apparently you can learn this stuff by observing others and reading books. And great, overpaid players don't only 'respect' managers who have a wardrobe full of medals from their playing days.
No but unless you've played at a high level the players wont respect you, you have no idea about the game....etc Also, women cant be line-persons or refs as they just dont get it....... comedy gold isnt it
A woman as manager? Already happened in Italy, Germany and France but couldn't happen here same as no gay footballers: http://www.theguardian.com/football/2014/may/07/helena-costa-clermont-foot-manager "French second-tier outfit Clermont Foot have announced that Portuguese manager Helena Costa will take over next season. Costa, 36, will become the first female coach of a French professional club." Speaking of gays that film on American Samoa is out this week. The transgender pllayer in their team was on 5Live last night and said the West was centuries their little island as regards equality issues. Trailer here: http://www.theguardian.com/film/video/2014/feb/19/next-goal-wins-trailer-documentary-video And we have dinosaurs like Harry and Fat Sam together with fascists like Mourinho.
I applied for the England Manager post once Wrote a real nice letter, saying I managed a semi-successful (more successful than the England team at the time....i.e....we had won something) quiz team, did all my own driving (no need for a coach driver), would base my selection around London teams, as I only rarely went to away matches that were "along way away"...so cutting down on players expenditure. Had a few wacky idea about aliens and faith healers that could be utilised, and was cheap. Do you know the B@@@@@s at the FA never even wrote back!!!
