Good call Heaven. I was just thinking, for a player of his age, what does it say about our squad for last season that Brown was still fit enough to start all of our final 5 games? Was he actually substituted? Not the same type of player and maybe he's still growing, but how does it make Mowatt feel to see a 3060+ year old starting ahead of him AND still being fit enough in the engine room not to have to b substituted aftr an hour or so? Mowatt for one really does need to work on his fitness.
gotta keep brown in a coaching role not in the football sense but in a fitness sense coaching these slouches on how to look after their bodys he must be doing something right to keep himself so fit for so long lets have some of that for a start put him in charge of pre season training get em all back running like mo farrah and usain bolt imagine murphy and mowatt with his energy/fitness levels only a thought mind
I wouldn't be upset who we let go but I do feel Warnock was an average player for us compared to several below average ones, because we are so weak quality wise I would say keep
I would 100% keep Brown. He will be handy in games we need to see out and change to more defensive tactics. I think his performance this weekend may have earned him that contract extension too.
Looks like he isnt interested most of the time unless Pearce is telling him exactly what to do he also looks lost. Maybe its the system we play, or maybe he doesnt want to be here. In terms of abilty I rate him, but if theres something going on behind the scenes with him get rid and play Charlie Taylor next term.
Why would there be a list anyway? Surely basically everyone can go if a new club can be found. Ross is probably the only player that would command a decent transfer fee. Byram would have a year ago, but there won't be interest in him after the season he's had. As for keeping Warnock. Isn't he meant to be one of the 20k a week players? If so, given Cellinos plans to slash the wage bill, Id imagine hell be shipped out. Wasn't there a list drawn up of the unwanted last season and we couldn't give them away?
Currently 67% of waccoe are saying no to Brown for another season. Depends on how much we have to spend I suppose.
I'd keep Warnock based on his ability, but if he's on 20k a week he needs to go. Ridiculous amount of money to be paying him. Hopefully Charlie Taylor can push for a first team spot next season, behind whoever we sign as first choice LB
Warnock's first season was fine. This last one has been marred by inconsistency - definitely not an ex-international playing for us at times. Shout at me all you like, but I think Pugh has been 100% consistent & dependable every time he's been called up to play - and not just this season. Even if he's not played for a while, he hits the ground running, unlike most. If I had to choose between the two, I'd keep Pugh (at a reduced wage rate, of course!).
I think we would get a good fee for Smith PUllis loves big strikers like Graham Taylor used to do .I think that a little player playing off a big player works well
I would let Brown go if I were in charge and bring some younger lad in who will be there for 4-5 year possibly, I know your thinking but who?! ..but someone is available that can do a job there, once the dust settles now we will see who becomes available and possible targets. Also Warnock is hit and miss for me and if his wages are too high he can go also. I'm not sure how much of a shake up there will be but there needs to be one!
I couldn't agree more on this one. I don't think he should be here another year and you can't use the argument we don't have better because we only have ****. He is not a player that is going to be able to get us out of the league (or to the prem anyway). I also don't think he'd suit a coaching role for the reasons you have said, he does have a good football brain though. Also, everyone is talking about signing a player to replace Brown but does anyone think Thompson can step up. He hasn't done poorly when he has played for us but never really made a claim for a spot either, haven't heard anything about how he has been doing out on loan. He came here with a fair bit of hype when he signed for potential in the future. He is definitely more of a DM than any other players we have. Probably still wouldn't be comfortable with us not signing a GOOD CM in the summer.
Ideally I would keep him for another season, see whether he could do it and re-assess next year depending on his performances and what league we are in, he hasn't actually been that good this year but thought he was very good last year after he was signed. Although, I'm really hoping Charlie Taylor can come back from his loan and take over the LB role for the long term, only have heard really positive things about him and when I have seen him play (only a couple times mind) he has been pretty good, especially going forward. If a perfect world scenario happens and Taylor does make the step up then we'll still need a reliable backup and Warnock or Pugh could be that but Pugh's contract is up and Warnock's isn't, thats what would probably make my mind up about that.
I've always thought Thompson looked okay when he's played, but he hasn't even made the match day squad for the majority of this season, and with the midfield being as awful as its been, that says something. Not quite sure why he wasn't sent out on loan again this season.
I thought he was out on loan, I know he got young player of the season for Bury last season (as did Lees when he went there)
Didn't go out on loan this year for some reason. It's strange, McDermott obviously didn't rate him enough to include him in the match day squad, but still didn't send him out on loan...
