We've got to dump Adebayor this Summer. He's done the same old thing that he's done at every single one of his previous clubs - start well, fade badly, respond to criticism and then fade again once he's proved his point. AVB kept him in the cold, Sherwood brought him back and Ade responded to prove to AVB that he was wrong. Now, he plays regularly and has gone back in his shell. There is a great player in Adebayor but getting it out of him is so difficult. I'd rather we had a player with 75% of his skill level but is 100% committed. ------------------- I also think Rose is treading a fine line - he's not top 4 quality by any means. Far too many daydream-y moments for my liking. Lennon as well - he's so far off form it's almost not true. On his day, he's unplayable but he's been poor for at least half a season now.
I certainly see your point. But if we get rid of Adebayor, our strike force consists of Kane and Soldado. My guess would be if we had both Soldado and Ade, we'd get twenty five goals out of our top two strikers, somehow, whereas one would only get us ten. So I'd advocate hiring a psychologist--not for Adebayor, but to teach our next manager how to get a good season out of him.
My biggest nightmare is that we sell Ade (to get rid of his wage bill), and then LOLdado leaves, and we end up with Kane as our main striker. Oh, and we decide to give Sherwoodie a full season in charge, too. Having seen Levy operate over the years, this scenario is not impossible to imagine.
Maybe a striker overhaul is needed? Soldado doesn't seem suited to the English game and Ade as we all know blows hot and cold. Kane won't be 1st choice (at least not yet), rumours have linked us with Porto striker Jackson Martinez - the striker I wanted last summer, and no doubt there'll be others too. We haven't had a decent, consistent strike force since the trio of Berba, Keane and Defoe. As for Tim, I'll be very surprised if he's still manager come next season.
Alex McCarthy is set to leave Reading this summer, and he was on our radar this time last season, so we'll be adding to the Homegrown list if he arrives as well as having backup to Lloris (touch wood)
We've been linked to Hajduk Split's 16-year old midfielder Andrija Balic. Because as everyone knows, we're short on central midfielders. There's also the disturbing fact he looks like Luka Modric's sister... please log in to view this image
Adebayor only ever seems to respond to criticism to prove a point - perhaps the manager just needs to develop a tactic of criticising him every 6 weeks or so - he'll be a 40 goal a season player then...
BBC Gossip Column says the Mirror are claiming us and Pool are looking at a double swoop for Marshall and Caulker. I think Marshall depends on Hugo's future as Marshall won't play 2nd fiddle and I'd take Caulker back for half the price we sold him for.
