Asked this a bit ago about Larsson and Gardner, all said toodle loo, to Gardner, but Larsson divided opinions. Anyone changed their mind? Random fact, in the last 11 games where Larsson has started, SAFC have not lost...(sure someone will, look and tell me, i'm wronglike) Should he leave, does he suit Stokes style? .............................................................. STOKE CITY have been linked with a summer move for out-of-contract Sunderland midfielder Seb Larsson. Sunderland are yet to hold any discussions over extending Larssonâs three-year stay at the Stadium of Light, with the Swedish internationalâs current deal expiring at the end of June. The Black Cats rejected a January offer from another Premier League club for Larsson, but there has been no further indication of whether his future lies on Wearside. Reports today have indicated that Stoke, who failed in a January pursuit of Sunderland midfielder Lee Cattermole, are ready to make a Bosman move for Larsson at the end of the season. Certainly, Larsson, who scored the winner in Saturdayâs win at Manchester United, is open to remaining in the Premier League, albeit there is interest on the Continent from Borussia Monchengladbach, Besiktas and Galatasaray. And the 28-year-old will be an attractive proposition for many Premier League managers after making more than 200 top flight appearances and winning 63 caps for his country. But as Larssonâs agent, Per Jonsson, told the Echo last month, the sticking point in the former Arsenal manâs future could be whether he is given the chance to return to his favoured role on the right-hand side of midfield. âThe main situation for Seb going forwards is to choose a club - whether that is Sunderland or someone else - that will use him in his natural position,â said Jonsson.
Go. Been good the last few games whilst putting himself in the shop window but been decidedly average over the last three seasons.
Seb "The Pointer" Larsson.... He divide opinion in me let alone between a number of our fans!! He's on a damn good wage as he was brought in on a free. If his wage demands were less extortionate then I'd keep him. People forget how much work he actually gets through. OK so his "specialist right foot" has disappeared from free-kicks and corners but when he is playing he harries the oppo really well. Part of me says keep as he's a good member to have in the squad, part of me says get rid as he not consistent enough
I do like seb, I really do, you cant fault his tireless running, and he is a very good crosser of the ball. But his running can sometimes come across as headless and his dead ball set peices have really disappeared. I have no idea whether I want him here or not, but he has done fantastic the last 4 games, can't deny that
Agree with the general consensus here, not consistent enough and the last time I remember he scored from from a db set piece was arsenal away opening day last season.
Keep Larsson if he will accept a new contract on the same wages (and a Performance based bonus), as they are not so high when compared to others in the squad.
Time for changes. I like both lads but they need a new challenge and we need fresh faces. I'm guessing in wages alone we'd save some £3m a year off by letting them go, clearing the way for new blood. Both have contributed in their time and an amicable parting is welcomed but neither have really excelled either and perhaps its their combined lack of pace that is actually holding us back year on year now. I would however like to keep Colback and Bardsley.
Didn't they lose the world cup qualifier. Ronaldo vs Ibrahimovic or Portugal vs Sweden as it was officially known.
Aye your right mate, dunno then, would still probs offer him another year http://m.fifa.com/worldcup/matches/index.html
I've always liked Seb, and he's been great these past few games. I'd offer him a new contract for sure Would like to keep as many out of contract players as possible so that we don't have a team of strangers next year Not Gards though
He can go. Too slow for the wing and nowhere near consistent in cm. Should have already gone before this season.
Quite harsh a lot of comments, I think the guy has done well. He has struggled at times but the whole team has as well. Nearly all the problems for me has been the lack of a good striker/strikers holding the ball/linking up. With 2 forwards like Wickham and Borini working well the midfield look so much more solid and offer more going forward. Id love to see Larson and Colback stay but I think they will be both off.
If he is going to keep up his current form, keep him. But is he? Mebbe a short-term contract instead??
