Now I am not going to lie, I am devastated. To lose the title with three games to go is sickening. But that fact in itself is a blessing. The fact that going in to the last day the title will not be decided is a blessing. And the fact that I now eagerly await not only seeing us play, but the manor in which we do play is a blessing. We had absolutely no right to be up there challenging, even with 24 games gone we had no right. But our boys put an 11 game run together.. Beating City, Arsenal, Spurs and United.. It's a ****ing cracking effort. And no matter what happens, we've proven a lot of people wrong this season.
I'm ****ing disgusted with them to be honest. **** the lot of them, they're supposed to be professional sportsmen and the best they can come up with is the **** we saw tonight. **** off.
The vast majority of what you posted was true - except that bit about us not having the right to be up there challenging. The pundits may well have thought that because they are lazy in both their research and thinking. But we always had the right to challenge and we took it! I'm not devastated tonight, I'm angry. Angry with the players for letting a 0-3 lead slip and angry with BR for his substitutions. Tomorrow I'll be more on an even keel and looking forward to the next match and being very happy with what we have achieved.
Indeed Magic, They'll all claim they forsaw this but they didn't, they claimed we'd be six or fifth at best.... The season has been great and beyond any of our expectations and there is no reason we can't build on this for next year.. We have a young world class attack that just needs a touch of depth added... We have several good young midfielders and some good squad players...what we need now is a defence to match the attack. We have a manager who has got every ounce of talent he could squeeze out of a group of players a significant minority of which he didn't really rate.. this makes me confident he will build and finish on that start. People will try to say he's been naive in the last few games...I think he just knew the character of our individual defenders and thought, nothing I can do about them, let's just go for it...so he just tried to boost them up as much as possible and hope they got lucky....sadly it was too much for some but hey, it's been fun!!!!
Well I for one have got to admire Liverpool this season, it was like Keegan's Newcastle side but a bit better. I thought you were good in the second half of the season last year when Man U won the league and knew you would be challenging for a Champions League spot but to be where you are with one game left is amazing and to play attacking football as well, that's loads of thumbs up for me. Suarez has been totally amazing and has cleaned up his play, for Liverpool now this is the start of a new era and with Champions League football to offer and better quality players coming in the future is so bright its blinding. Liverpool have totally changed my opinion in the last 18 months and I now as entertaining as they were in the glory years probably more, good luck where the journey now takes you guys as there is nothing better then watching entertaining football and Liverpool have done that in the last 18 months, one thing I can say is next year its going be bloody fascinating to watch the EPL and I cant wait hopefully the World Cup doesn't hamper any of the top sides players. PS. Also you never know in this amazing Premier League season there might be one more twist to come, well done and good luck for the last game and next season.
Today was a truly appalling performance but I just think back to the start of the season where I genuinely #worried we might be scrapping with Spurs until the last day to get 4th place (and other people didn't even expect that much!)
It's not the time for forcing pink shades. It was a f*cking shambles. Many lessons must be drawn in the summer from the ways our defence has fu*ked it up this season. I hope this season makes us cynical and stronger minded.
Thank you for you thoughts. It has been a ride that has been accelerating since the 2nd half of last season. Tonight is painful but i'm sure that tomorrow is another day. YNWA Cheers darlo
Go back to bed then! There's no point in being angry today, you'll just do yourself a lot of no good!. It's happened and we have to live with the consequences. They have to live with what they've done and BR can do very little now until after Sunday's match. All season we've known that our defence was poor. It was just sad that they chose such a dramatic way to prove it. However, it's not just the players fault. BR is responsible for the way the team plays and he did nothing to make it stronger when we were 0-3 up! But now we can look forward to how we will strengthen the squad over the Summer and delight in what has truly been a wonderful season. You'll feel better if you do - honest!
in the end the issue is not defense it is a total lack of control. all game yesterday gerrard wanted to just go forward. not sit in his slot for example. its not his fault solely obviously... but per cheslea control is what we lack, the brains to say hey hang on, hold your position control the game, be aggressive but don't chase it. its that simple. neither lucas nor gerrard can run.. but both were consistently ahead of the ball.##ergo exposed defense. then johnson turn his back on a shot... and shako di the same before it.. deflection goal.. skertl runs out leaving a huge gap fails to win it... by all means dominate aerially but not go charging out at the edge of your box with no cover! flanagan had control of the second one but let the noe man in the box drop off him by six yards and he though hmmm i should cover skertl in case this guy runs him... result? easy goal. its all about control, playing your game and not forcing it... we were chasing mythical goals at 3-0... what did we want 6-7? we concede one then utter panic. however, the abuse of players and utterly losing the rag is ridiculous. we are actually top for today. enjoy it while it lasts. we've screwed the pooch but get over it. part on the last day i say no matter what
Agree with this MITO Don't get me wrong when their 3rd went in I was ****ing raging at certain players but half hour after the game you do have to realise that we have achieved a lot this season and it's obvious what needs strengthening for next season. Those same players who ****ed it last night still have us top of the league, for now at least. COME ON YOU VILLAINS.
Oddly, I'm not devastated. I was exuberant when we were 3 goals up- but Palace coming back didn't sicken me like it probably should have. Sad to come so close and now, almost certainly lose the title- but it's been one brilliant year. Well done LFC... well done Rodgers, and Suarez, Sterling, Sturridge, Skrtel, and everyone else. Brilliant season- thank you for making it last the full season for us!
