But how can anyone compare this year to next year. All teams will stregnthen. some will improve their side and some will actually make it worse. (Fulham, Norwich). What Monk has done this yaer will have no bearing on what he does next year. Do we trust him to rebuild a team and be competative. Can you trust him to replace Bony, Williams. what experience does he have. i have no issue with him coaching, but does he have the ability to build a PL squad. With the 13 game experience he has. I just dont think so, mind you I always think the worse when it comes to the swans.

You make it sound like he will have to build a whole squad from scratch! The majority of the squad will remain in tact. A few will leave (or be pushed) and a few will arrive.

You have to put the crap teams to the sword and that's exactly what happened, so I'm not sure what your point is Bob.

Garry Monk should be paying me commission to defend him like this <laugh> And the reason I am doing so is because a lot of posters seem to be making invalid arguments about the games he has had in charge so far. Anyhow, time to take a back seat for a while.

And despite being shown otherwise, they still think it is December because they consider Palace an easy fixture.

Unless you are a manchester club or a chelsea, liverpool type of club then you can say they will probably fill the top spots, But the rest of us then we wont know until the season has kicked off and have played a dozen games or so. Look at the saints this season and look at palace in the final third of the season. Players will come and go at most clubs and that may make a difference on how the club does. ... Im hoping for a top half finish but nothings certain in football...

One thing is certain , we will drop out of the PL at some point ,whether it's next season or the one after but it will happen .Just hope that when it does there won't be mass suicides on here

My heart says back Monk, but my head says don't be silly, he'll be gone in next to no time! Anyway he's going to get his chance to shine, so for the sake of our team and club, I'll support him until it's time for him to go, have you noticed that we never keep managers for longer than a few seasons, is that our secret to success?.................<laugh>

Deaf, dumb, blind and stupid is no way to go through life son! Read what people write carefully before you post, because all posters on here, regardless of their opinions on Monk, HJ, Laudrup , Sousa, the quality of the tea, or the color of the grass, are here because they care deeply about a club they have followed for many years if not decades. And although there is a fair amount of wind-up, most of what is written is based on a good amount of thought, and quite often well reasoned argument.

So exercise that lumb that's three feet above your arse. Perhaps plug in a AAA battery to double your available juice and then maybe you'll realize that spouting vitriol like that just illustrates your station in life ... having a brain that's smaller than your dick must be a real embarrassment. And there was I thinking that only Cardiff supporters were so handicapped - guess I was wrong about that.

If you want debate, we should hold on to the facts.

Laudrups record is 100% irrelevant at this point. He has gone. Better or worse than Monk is as useful as better or worse than Pardew or Pepe Mel. The decisions we have in front of us as a club have nothing at all to do with Laudrup.
Other teams have appointed new managers this season and I think I'm right in saying that all three of the teams that are/will be relegated are under new management.

I can take the notion of scepticism at the (apparently inevitable) appointment of Garry Monk, but the pissing contests I've seen over the years between the guys that think they're better fans or have supported the team longer followed by people saying they won't be following next year if Monk gets it (not least of all, Dai) really gives me a twitch. These people think their comment means anything, but they should sod off and support Man Utd or Man City so they can satisfy their thirst for incessant success.

My last post didn't cover me in glory. Apologies.

I'd just like to see 'supporters' do just that. Support. Monk looks like he's gonna get it. Go down the stadium and boo and you'll be no better than anyone who was referred to as a 'plastic' or the tossers from Man Utd's 'prawn sandwich brigade'.

I don't think anyone has suggested booing or starting a 'get Monk out' campaign (even if he isn't quite in yet). The support he's had off the terraces and from the players to date has been excellent. But, I believe a lot of people, myself included, don't believe he has what it will take to be successful and finding out is a huge risk. If he gets the job he will be supported, all be it with fingers crossed.

I think you're both right and wrong here. If he gets the job, it'll be a huge risk and we'll all start developing superstitious finger crossing, wood touching and lucky pant wearing. As for having 'what it takes', I have no idea what that is any more.

As for the support, we've seen on here that a Monk Out campaign would be a small leap for some people and the talk of not supporting the club next season on the back of it is a threat (albeit of little consequence if we only lose someone that fickle).

I just find myself back at the place that says, the people on here are not Premier League players, nor Premier League managers, but (as another thread tells us) non football folk who just happen to follow the Swans. Our Chairman has picked a consistent line of 'the right guys for the job'.
As long as he can maintain objectivity and stick to that interview process, we have to trust that he will only pick Monk if he thinks he's capable.

Dai as we all know the Palace recovery was down to one thing - getting a manager with PL experience and the nouse to be able to turn them round. I will support Monk as much as the next supporter but I remain very sceptical as to how we will perform under him. It may be that he/Huw bolsters his assistants with some experience which may do the trick. I agree with you though "Im hoping for a top half finish but nothings certain in football"

I support the team on the pitch, I support the manager when he sets his team up. But I will not change my opinion that ML should still be on the touchline, just so you can feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

If you are incapable of joining in the debate, then move on to the next topic. Debate in topics that suit you, and let others who want to continue in debates that doesn't interest you.

I have seen differing opinions, but each and every person loves this club, its why they have these opinions, and that is what forums are about, discussing your opinion, you may think the ML issue is done with, but this is still that same season, and until the season is over, or until people stop saying that Monk saved our bacons, then the debate will continue.

Is it wrong for some to question the chairman? Maybe, maybe not, was it wrong for us to question the chairman 11 years ago? Is it wrong for people to have doubt regarding the appointment of Monk, of course it bloody is. The guy is untested, has no experience. People have doubts, and the forum is the place for them to air those doubts, but I would bet that 99% of these posters, forget those doubts come match day, and sing and shout for the team. Because, Shaper, that is what supporters ****ing do. Its why this club is owned by supporters, because we are not all ****ing sheep, we don't all fall in line, we question, we act.

Maybe its irrelevant to you what happened this season with Laudrup , but it clearly isn't to others shaper , and here is where some talk about it . If you don'tlike it , to bad . PS . On the heels of our line up against Everton in the FA CUP , maybe Huw should sign Monk to a roll over and quit contract , how does that turn your crank .....
