Stan the Man for me....and I saw Rodnee play in the flesh many times...but Stan was even better (even better than SWP too)
Stan Bowles easily the best I have ever seen. Great character and kept happy at Rangers thanks to Jim Gregory for assisting in cash funding him for his gambling exploits. Distant second was Rodney.Third arguably would be Tony Currie.
Stan Bowles for me. Best player I've ever seen play live in the flesh. Only one who could have been close was George Best, but he was past his best when I saw him, and of course he never played for the right team!
1. Stan Bowles 2. Rodney Marsh 3. Gerry Francis 4. Dave Thomas 5. Don Givens 6. Les Ferdinand 7. Clive Allen 8. Dave Clement 9. Phil Parkes 10. Terry Venables 11. Ian Gillard 12. Don Masson 13. Mick Leach 14. Paul Parker 15. Andy Sinton 16. Trevor Sinclair 17. Dave Webb 18. Tony Currie 19. Alan McDonald 20. David Seaman.......thats for starters and in that order too! P.s Just bubbling under there are Paul Goddard, Simon Stainrod and Gary Bannister...
I saw Tony Currie a few weeks back Houston. He was outside Bramall Lane. Top bloke For me the lads in the '76 side were my favourites, prob Stan & Gerry. In more recent times Gallen & Ainsworth
Bit generationally specific this, isn't it? You can't pick players you've never seen, which counts me out for about 80 years of history. My favourite undoubtedly Stan, The best Gerry Francis, when he was fit. The cleverest Terry Venables.
Has to be Rod Marsh for me. Got me hooked in the first place, special, special talent. And in my opinion put little ol' QPR on the map!
