Can't believe there is three pages of this. The thread needs just one post and one word: "Lallana" Lots if other people have been excellent for long periods, or some in patches, but ever since halftime against Sunderland at home in our second game, Lallana has just got better and better and better. I wonder if the players will vote for Jayrod as their player; that would be nice.
The club are missing a trick...there are so many awards. Cutest face award: Lovren, 2nd Gaston Insane award: Boruc, special mention Osvaldo Award for being universally loved, must go to Brazil or we will all scream until we are sick: Sir Rickie Award for best wearing of knitwear: David Salas Award for innocent expression when questioned in English: Mauricio If we try hard, everyone gets a plaque.
Saints have announced that for the first time ever, the awards night will be broadcast live on the club website and YouTube. http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/news/article/22042014-player-awards-live-on-youtube-1504637.aspx
As much as I like Davis I can't vote for him because "he's underrated". Jay has been fantastic but I can't vote for him just because of his nasty injury. Shaw has been fantastic, as has lovren. But Lallana has earned it through and through. He's central to almost every attack.
In all honesty I'd like to make them all Player of the Season, but Adam has stood head and shoulders above the rest. So I voted for him.
If Lallana doesn't get it, then it's ridiculous. Jay's been good (struggled in the first couple of months though), but I hope he doesn't get lots of sympathy votes - he's not the first player ever to get a long term injury! I don't think he would have gone to Rio anyway, but he should have.
Awards night is Tuesday night, so not long now. The whole thing is being broadcast live on YouTube. They'll be showing and interviewing arriving guests from outside, then move inside so we can watch the ceremony. Not had the opportunity to do that before so that's a nice touch for fans who can't make it too. On Tuesday I'll knock up a thread with the link to the live feed in it.
Be nice to dip in and out of the awards night, but the only way to survive a whole awards evening is to be bladdered sitting at a table with your mates.
P.s. May be worth it if Mauricio, Adam and Luke finish with 'see you next season' #wantwhatshesdrinking.
Saints have just tweeted that they're looking forward to seeing Matt Le Tissier at the awards night tomorrow... blimey.
Shows how much Cortese 'cut off' the Saints past, when a tweet like that is deemed such a breakthrough. He was only our greatest ever player after all.
