I know what you mean, but it's not completely true. Most people don't even ****ing vote, so they keep getting in because a majority of the minority vote for them. Doesn't stop the non-voters complaining, though. I keep saying this, but it would only need a few thousand people to get off their apathetic ****ing arses and cast their votes in order to change the political landscape of this city.

    They won't though.

Been picky but its not in the middle of an industrial estate its right on the edge. Backs onto Brid Ave and is only 50 yards away from Clowes Bldgs which are just lovely..... :bandit:

On an iPad, so can't look at street view, but it's what I remembered from back when the application was blocked, it's certainly opposite a load of typical clad industrial units.

The council in this city is little more than a Old Boys Club, frequented by a clique of ageing third rate Labour politicians who harp on about when Hull was the city of the Fishing industry (40 years ago) They were given money to pull down the eyesore that is that New York hotel on Anlaby Road. Its still there....Then there are the derelict buildings on the fishing dock. That area was earmarked for development, ie flats but they turned it down because someone might fall into the dock....You couldn't make it up....No wonder Papa Allam won't talk to them..Can you blame him?

I think it's criminal that they plan to demolish the New York building, it's a fantastic building and will one that in years to come I will be posting on one of my 'anyone remember this, aren't the council clueless' threads. The reason they haven't demolished it yet, is because they don't own it and it's not actually legal to demolish other people's buildings.

As Dutch has already pointed out, your other comment is nonsense.

Is the Sally Army 'Icehouse' still in that block? Right in the corner after the curved front?

In fact that shot shows the block to be a great-looking block.

The icehouse is a listed building, but it was inhabited by dossers who started a fire and there's little more than one wall left now(There was a recent photo of it on Hull The Good Old Days on Facebook last week).

Allam has saved some money as he was behind the small consortium trying to buy the Hull Stingrays franchise - he was the money man behind the L.I.N.N partnership by all accounts .

Had he won that , he would have built the new Ice Hockey / basketball stadium and developed the Tigers brand that way .

the EHL members decided not to throw out Bobby McEwan as there is a lot of dirty laundry hiding in a lot of closets there !

There is a council estate only 100 yards away and plenty of residential property on Canon Street itself. I'd hardly call is 'in the middle of and industrial estate'. The building also occupies a substantial corner plot it is not in the middle of anything.
