Well thats that for this season then, since I know they'll be along at some point: Congrats to the Wall Boys
I'll second that. We can all now breath a collective sigh of relief for different seasons. Only difference the wall will be in same position or worse next season
In time no doubt Eire. But no point in bringing in too many, as it will disrupt things too much. But as long as we move on those who clearly no longer feature
That's true. Our views just differ on how many are worthless to the cause Boggers. Happily city are back in game against Everton
Can't understand why the youngsters didn't get a runout today. Was really looking to run the rule over them. MotM for me was Brown. By miles. Pure entertainment too. He was all over wunderkid Hughes in the first half, to the extent that he was anonymous in the second half. Looked terrified anytime Brown was within 10yds. Good shifts too from Pugh, Pearce, Tonge, Rossco & Smith. Butland had little to do except pick the ball out of the net. Wooton was doing a tight marking job, so unfair to comment on general performance. Did ok. Lees was Lees. Did ok, but most certainly didn't set the heather alight. Failures? Austin & Murphy, plus his half time replacement, White. Austin tried, but then doesn't he always. Murphy was invisible (injured?). White spent 45 minutes on the right wing. 1 attempt at a cross, which hit the 1st defender. Zero tackles. Rarely came back to help defence. Several dribbling runs that went nowhere. Much headless chickenry. Convinced me a long time ago that there is no place for him at ER. He's since confirmed that many times, including today. Bye, bye.
Agree with pretty much most of that, although I thought Austin did OK. How the hell we went in 1-0 at half time was beyond me. Loved Brown's performance today. Will Hughes was frightened to death of him! Give him another year, if only as a squad player. He will fight all day for the club, literally sometimes.
Have to disagree with you re. Austin, Heaven, old boy! To be fair to him, he's not a wing back, but I would have expected him to come back at least some of the time to defend. He kept drifting upfield & infield. No defensive contribution whatsoever. I'd like to see their goal again, but confess to thinking at the time "Where's Austin?". Think a good FB or WB might have gone some way to prevent it (then again, I may be talking pish - let's see the highlights). Second half, he was the same old Rudi, back in the centre of midfield. much ado about nothing. TBH, I thought Tonge did a better job in the middle & was wasted out on the left. I used to be a fan of Austin's, and was very forgiving of him. Not now. He's not just gone off the boil - he's not even simmering now!
Not a drop passed my lips. And I'm assuming you're on the wind up. Either that or your head has got as damaged as your toe. Did you not make it to the POTY, btw?
A new decent goalie I'll give you WACCOE. But another 11? I'll assume you're still hung over from last night's POTV awards. Cellino isn't going to sanction the purchase of 10+ new players. We will see the arrival of a few and the departure of a lot. We might also see Dawson and possibly Walters pushng for at least a squad place, if not being loaned out to a L1 or 2 side to get game time. As I've said elsewhere, what we need to see is genuine progress and a top 6 finish. The last few games, albeit against poor opposition (Derby aside), shows that we can do better. Austin clearly isn't a RB. So if Peltier is on his way, that's one new player we need unless there's someone in the development squad. Tonge or Austin will compete to play CM with Brown or a more attacking option. What we'll need is a genuine play maker. Could that be Murphy? Maybe maybe not. BMD will have to work out his best combination in midfield knowing that someone will be rquired to provide width. Up top will clearly be Ross and Smith. But Smith needs competition. Will Poleon step up? Look forward to a lively summer, for all the right reasons at last. In BMD I trust. MOT
Foot flared up again after the game so mrs took eldest daughter. Donut spent much of the night with a face like a slapped arse. Expect him sacked next week. Hunt told the mrs he is staying. Shocked to be told he should **** off and stop stealing wages... Lol I have trained her well. Ross is making all the right noise about staying for at least next year. But could he really say anything else at a club event whilst under contract?
Ross won't be staying. Cellino said yesterday that next season is about stability financially., promotion maybe the following year. Ross will not waste a couple of years hanging about waiting for that. As for Hunt, he is going nowhere. Why? Because no other club would be daft enough to sign him and pay the stupid wages were paying. If by some miracle he does go, well probably have to pay a large chunk of his wages anyway. Fair play to your missus waccoe for asking the questions though
Selling Ross would just mean we'd need two new strikers, not the one we do need. Can't see Hunt having much of a role, unless he has an outstanding pre-season. On BMD, I think Cellino will give him a few months. If we start off well, he'll stay. If we start poor or return to hoofball, he'll be on his way.
I am in town in a while. I might pop into donuts local and ask him directly. Always supposing he hasn't gone on holiday. Drinks in the Montpellier/ fat badger most weekends.
