Can't be any wetter than the one after the Burnley game. A masterclass in cat and mouse football at its most boring as neither side ever looked like pouncing and the sight of Fatty Holt sulking around the pitch put off queuing up for a pie. Almost a three hour drive across the Pennines in driving rain.

Have to say I fancy our chances against Wigan, they are not in great form, lost 4 of their last 6 games, take the game to them at their placeand we could establish a decent position for the home leg.....

Looks like it's only an initial allocation, so if they are all sold early I would expect to club to apply for an additional allocation....

I'm pretty sure the allocation will be increased, possibly doubled or more if needed.

As for the result, I'd be very happy with a score draw, meaning a win or 0-0 will take us through AET.

I'm sure they will cheat their way to at least 1 goal through a dive.

I don't think away goals counts extra during the playoffs?

I think they only count AET, I'm not at all sure though so may well be wrong.

Just checked and it doesn't look like there is which is a big advantage to us as a goal for them in ET would mean us needing to score two.

Still, I'd take a score draw up there just for the entertainment. I'm pretty sure wed go for a 0-0.

Good point re extra time, playing the home leg second would be less of a carrot if away goals counted extra on aggregate.
    This is what Wikipedia says:

"The winner of a semi-finals is decided by the tie's aggregate score after the two legs. If the aggregate score is tied at the end of the 90 minutes of the second leg, then an additional 30 minutes of extra time is played to try and create a winning team. If the score at the end of extra time is still level then the tie is decided by penalty kicks."

I'd take an away draw too. If we can't win at home we probably wouldn't deserve a Wembley trip anyway!

I looked and the FL playoffs are the only two legged ties that don't use away goals at some point, I hate them. I'd rather see a shoot out than away goals.

In Europe, home teams are now quite happy with 0-0s and it still doesn't stop teams like the scum from being boring and parking the bus.

The home tickets are going on general sale, I know some people wanted them so they will have a chance if they are quick on Monday.

their away end holds around 5364 ( I know, Ive just counted them on their seating plan https://www.eticketing.co.uk/wiganathletic/details/event.aspx?itemref=2843 ...... well its a quiet night in St Neots ! ! )

3323 is only an initial allocation. They wont put Wigan fans in the away end and have a whole block empty for segregation)

Its Wigan on a Friday night when Sky show Super League (and our game is on sky aswell), it will be raining and pies will be a plenty

Cant see tickets being a problem, even the Wigan areas are mostly showing green and they've been on sale since yesterday

Away goals not counting is known as "The Ipswich Rule".

After they had been knocked out by Bolton on away goals they complained that Bolton had thirty extra minutes to score an extra goal away than they had.

Thus endeth the away goal advantage in the Football league play offs.

That's correct, would you rather play away last and know you only had to score one goal in ET to win it?
Even if the home team scores, they are still on edge as an away goal knocks them out.

I think its a disadvantage if it goes to ET to play at home second if away goals count.

All it means is one team has to score more than the other.

If it does come down to extra time in the second leg I would hope that we can make enough of a racket to make home advantage pay.

    PLEASE, no penalties!
