In the name of Aly Cissokho who plays for Lyon and France, if we pulled this deal off I would cream my pants and would be just as good of a signing as N'Zogbia or Pavyluchenko or anyone like that.

Hope its true but would be a masterstroke from Brucie and the board if this came off as very unlikely IMO

Sunderland are discussing a move for French full back Aly Cissokho. The Lyon man has two years left on his current contract and the Black Cats are prepared to bid 7.5m GBP to bring the defender to the club.

Cissokho has also been attracting the attentions of AC Milan, who have made an offer for the Frenchman in the past.

Sunderland have been linked with several players this summer and it appears that boss Steve Bruce is also looking to bring in defenders after the link with the Frenchman

We won't get him, but 7.5 is a decent sum of money and not too risky.

This would be a WOW signing for me, but £7.5 million? Lyon paid double that to sign him from Porto.

Milan won't be looking, they have Taiwo and Antonini, this would make such a difference to the side, Cissokho is fast, he put's decent balls into the box, and he's a decent defender as well.

I want this to be true, truly. This would be a statement signing without a doubt.

Not to be a pessimist but... absolutely no chance. Lazy journalism if ever I've seen it. There is literally no substance to this. This sort of crap makes me angry at the media for getting my hopes up only to research a little further and realise that they have literally plucked a name out of the sky. Twats.

I'm surprised we aren't linked to him considering how we're bumming the **** out of the French leagues at the moment.

My feelings to a tee. They build us up and then we all get knocked down when we sign some obscure useless LB on deadline day...

Although optimistically, I would love it to be true, and would probably also cream in my pants. Not at the same time as poolie though. That would just be weird.

Manchester City and Liverpool are set to go head-to-head for Lyon full-back Aly Cissokho.
Liverpool are in the market for a new left-back and have made the 23-year-old one of their summer transfer priorities.
But they will not have a clear run at Cissokho with City now ready to reignite their interest in one of their long-term targets, according to reports in France.
Roberto Mancini is keen to add some defensive cover this summer, especially with Jerome Boateng likely to leave for Bayern Munich, and they are now considering a bid for £9m-rated Cissokho

Seems were not alone on this one...

    Emilio Izzaguire

would certainly have him like him and his team mate up at celtic Beram Kayal (who we have been linked with) would be two great aditions to the squad both reportedly only on 7k a week each aswell. Sure they would be tempted to come to us if we bid for them

Cracking player that would do very nicely thank you, but let's not get taken to the cleaners like we did the last time we signed someone from the SPL ;)
