Hull City team news STEVE Bruce will resist the temptation to experiment ahead of the FA Cup final as he bids to secure Hull Cityâs Premier League survival at Aston Villa today. The Tigers boss admitted he will need to give fringe forwards Yannick Sagbo and Matty Fryatt a run-out before Wembley in a fortnight but will first keep faith with cup-tied pair Shane Long and Nikica Jelavic in the league. Sone Aluko was said to be Bruceâs greatest selection dilemma heading to Villa Park following his impressive cameo at Fulham last weekend, but finding a place for him in a 3-5-2 shape does not appear straightforward. Bruce has no fresh injury worries from the 2-2 draw at Craven Cottage and will again consider Maynor Figueroa after giving the out-of-sorts defender a rest last weekend. Away from the first-team frame is the ongoing fight for fitness of Paul McShane and Allan McGregor ahead of the FA Cup final, and Bruce remains unwilling to dismiss either playerâs prospects with so much at stake, but both have much to prove. McShane was due to play in a behind-closed-doors game at Leeds yesterday following a week of training and could feature from the bench against Everton next Sunday. McGregor, meanwhile, is hoping for an all-clear from specialists for his recent kidney damage. Possible Hull City line-up to face Aston Villa: Harper; Chester, Bruce, Davies; Elmohamady, Rosenior; Meyler, Huddlestone, Livermore; Jelavic, Long. Subs: Jakupovic, Figueroa, Koren, Boyd, Sagbo, Aluko, Fryatt. Not happy about 3-5-2 myself. But it seems Brucey may stick with it. I'm going for a 2-0 win for us. Davies and Long to score.
Hull team news: Hull have no new injury concerns ahead of their Barclays Premier League trip to Aston Villa. Goalkeeper Allan McGregor is in light training after breaking three ribs and damaging a kidney against West Ham in March, as is Paul McShane following a lengthy absence with ankle trouble, but neither are in contention. didnt know Macca was back in training. Good news welcome back.
I'd be disappointed if we started a 3-5-2, we've looked rubbish more often than not this season when using it. We pulled our deficit back and looked much better last weekend when playing with a back 4. I'd like to see Harper Rosey Chezzy Davies Figueroa Elmo Livermore Huddlestone Aluko Long Jelavic It's my birthday today and so far I've won everything (£25 on roulette) so hopefully my luck will carry over and Shane Long will score first in the first 10 minutes as I've got a tenner on him to score first @ 7/1 and a 5er on us to score the first goal in the opening 10 minutes at 9/1.
Cheers. 24, getting to the end of my days. He'd bloody better, just stuck 7.50 on him to score anytime @ 2/1 to cover my losses if he doesn't start the rout As I usually go on Jelavic as first scorer it's nailed on he'll open the scoring as it's the one time I don't back him, Sod's law.
We could hardly hope to face a team lower on confidence, watched by fans totally bereft and disillusioned by their manager. They're frail at the back, too, having conceded 15 goals in their last 6 games. 2-1 City.
Which all worries me. They're so **** bereft etc that....... I'm getting on Jelavic for first goal before the price becomes unbackable.......
I'm very worried about today's game. In my opinion we've got nothing to lose so we might as well just go at them. I just get the feeling though that we'll sit back like last week and probably get beat 2-0.
3-1 to the good. If they don't start well the fans will get on their backs and the whole affair will descend into a sorry episode of Brummie self-flagellation. Nick an early goal through Long, get another around HT, weather the storm and hit 'em on the counter in the last 10 minutes. They're due a good hiding from us.
We've got an absolutely **** record against these, especially at Villa Park. Been there 4 times- 4 defeats and no goals scored. I'll be delighted with a draw.
feel a 0-1 result today...Jela to score in the first 5 minutes....we then hold on for the other 85 with the Villa lot going more and more mental with each minute that passes
I feel a buoyant mood today, not over exuded. A nice Sunny day. Facing. Ragged Villan mob, who on paper , look S****. So hardly a Rampage, But 0-2 with a brace fr Longy.
We've not scored against Villa in the Prem have we? Think today will be the day that changes - I'm going for a 2-0 win; Aluko and Davies with the goals.
Been reading their forum on Villatalk all week and they're crapping themselves. They're particularly worried about Long because he ripped them a new one earlier in the season. Not gonna predict in fear of jinxing the game.
Good luck today lads, would be an absolute delight to see you put Villa in the mix. They are ****e, I can see you winning it, they won't deal with Long.
Off to pub to watch the game soon. Regretting not saying **** it and going now even if it is 39 quid.
