Aye they take the piss a bit with what they charge, a similarly equipped beemer is generally 5-6k less, if you're adding options.

The stereo's are frankly incredible in them mind, i'm gonna miss that, i'm hoping the smaller cabin on the BMW will compensate for the lack of Bose concert speakers!

Been looking at an M3 just recently, but last 3 cars have been Audi's and i've never had any bother with any of them, I know BMW are just as reliable but I just like Audi's. Wish they would bring out an new RS4, love the old one but it's a bit dated now compared with the M3.

My S3 was an ex demo and it's got every bell and whistle on it including the Bose, facking brilliant, Kajagoogoo never sounded so good.

I've had an m3 mate, and i will say to you right now, go for it!

This thing was absolutely brutal, was an e46, the acceleration on it was absolutely stomach churning, combined with the fact you sit so low in them, it's just an incredible experience having one.

Slightest patch of rain and you are holding the back end through every corner, brakes are sensational, gearbox was so tight that you just need barely flick it with one finger, just a breathtaking and frankly pleasureable machine.

I ****ing adored that car, my lass HATED it, i didn't go into a car park in 18months without killing the stereo and revving the tits off it, there is nothing i have driven that has ever come close to that car, it was just perfection.

People look at you like your a right prick, but i just put it down to envy, funnily, the Audi was a 3.2 as well, but was nearly 100bhp down on the m3.

I actually had a test drive arranged just before crimbo, the car was being driven up from Nottingham by BMW but the driver wrapped it round a lamp post in the snow and they couldn't get me another to do a test drive in. I got paid off from work shortly afterwards so dropped the idea but starting a new Job in Nigeria soon so will be back in the market for a new motor. It's literally a toss up which one i go for, love what i've got but it's now nearly 4 years old so needs changing before it starts needing new bits which are extortionately pricey. The missus likes the new shape A4 so might look at the S4, I fancy the RS3 or an M3, failing that a Porche 911 Carrera 4, couldn't stretch to the turbo.

Aye you're not far off there mate, had an RS2000 with the nose cone, lovely car, also had a 1600e mk11 Cortina, sounded brilliant, also had a 2000e mk3 cortina which was great to drive but dropped to bits on me. The wings just fell off the ****ing thing.

There's actually an old Escort Mexico knocking about South Shields which looks mint.

Get the m3 mate, if your budget gets you an e92, it's now a v8, and they look and sound superb.

It tore the RS4 to pieces on Top Gear iirc, you can get the full glass roof, which appears black from the outside, just beautiful.

That's what i wanted, but the price difference from the 330 is just too big for me to bite, and fuel prices over here are just as high, and actually higher if you us BP or Repsol, than the UK.

No point buying a non-turbo Carrera, as you will get your arse torn off when you sell.

I never had the pleasure of any of the really good Escorts, but i did have a Fiesta RS, which was a great car, but used to overheat all the ****ing time, and i mean all the ****ing time!

It once went on the Tyne bridge at quarter past 5, ****ing steam blowing out the bonnet vents, the faces of the poor people who's journey home from work was extended by 45 mins are a horror i'll live with for the rest of my days.

When it was working though, i adored it, i was only 19, the lasses used to go daft for it, haha.

    Talking of cars.
If anyone is thinking of buying a car on finance, let me know, I work for Toyota in sales and can finance any make and model of car and can get you 'mates rates' which will be very competitive.
Oh and I'm currently driving the Lexus CT200, lovely car.

I saw the Top Gear head to head but to be honest mate, you're really splitting hairs between all the German top marques, Mercs included. Lets face it, who drives like Clarkson on a daily basis? I couldn't afford the petrol or the tyres if i drove like that all the time. They're all really good cars, even the Lexus ISF is up there with them for performance.

In my head I've sort of got it narrowed down the the RS3 or the M3, RS3 will probably hold it's value better as they are going to be limited in numbers and on paper it's as fast as the M3 but with 4 wheel drive.

Unquestionably the Audi will hold it's value better, but if your buying 'nearly new', you'll get a mega deal on an M3.
