:smiley-finger007:Very good really isn't it. Trouble is, we would have been relegated using the same statistics earlier in the season. So, a mid table finish is quite reflective. I would sooner be going into next season on the back of a good run though and a much greater confidence exists now.

Looking at City's points per game since SC arrived, we played 26 winning 11, draws 9 and defeats 6.
Points per game is 1.61 and if we had had that record for the whole season, we would be in 7th behind Peterborough who have 1.62 per game.

And when one also considers that even under SC, we have drawn games we should have won, Orient at home, Tranmere, Crewe and others, we would be even higher.

As long as we continue with this form next season, it makes me confident that a top six finish is realistic.

I am more optimistic than even that.
Regards the 7th position though, it must be remembered that SC had to turn things around, like doing a turn in an ocean liner. The last 12 matches are a more accurate representation of his performance and perhaps a more illuminating indication of what we can achieve next season

Perfectly right about the initial period to stop the ocean liner. Even discounting his first match v Rotherham would increase our points per 25 games to 1.68 per game and put us above Peterboro for the season.

A word of caution to everyone including me. We are Bristol City and we are not known for doing what we are expected to do so don't anticipate too much until we see the evidence next season. We are well known for snatching defeat from the jaws of victory a la Valencia last night against Sevilla.

It's good to be confident but isn't this always the way for us? SC has definitely lifted a cloud from overhead and hopefully he can continue where he left off for next season but the one thing I know for sure after years of torment, is that the life of a Bristol City fan can never be predictable...........

A City fan's life is very predictable - it will be unpredictable!
