Joseph Stalin and the red army fought against the Nazi's because the Nazi's were indeed planning to invade the USSR. Hence, communists were killed in the concentration camps. Communists are actually responsible for the biggest massacre in European history, the bolsheviks who massacred the Tsar and his family went on to murder in excess of 60 million people, that is ten times the figure that the Nazi's themselves muateted up.
