Also, we have a better squad than the one we had when Arshavin signed. Granted we had Fab, Nasri and Rvp, but we also had some serious dross. Now we've got some better playmates for a new attacking player to gel with; the prospects of a rejuvinated Ballotelli banging in the goals is more likely.
Oh god its started already. I'm not listening to any rubbish from the papers until it gets advertised on Arsenal.com or Wenger himself.
Somebody else commented on here that they spend the whole summer trying to avoid the salacious rumours to avoid disappointment and then finally get suckered in on the last week, raise their hopes only to have them dashed on deadline day I think we all know the feeling. So I'm just going to give in to it now and go along with all the BS for the fun of it
So apparently a few media things have us linked with Fabregas again. They can link him all they want, we don't need him, and he doesn't need us. He burned his bridges.
Also, i'm making a bold prediction. We will sign Lars Bender, there's been too many rumours for too long for it not to happen.
Get Cesc and flog Wilshere asap - he is always going to be a crock and can't stay on his feet for more than 30 seconds at a time.
I don't know if you're joking or not, it's hard to tell with you. If you're serious, then i disagree, if you're joking, then it was funny.
I hope you're right. He would be a great acquisition and would really fit in well into our team. We really need a good box to box midfielder who's more defensive than Ramsey and quicker than Arteta. Flamini is the 'type' of player we need and he's done okay this season, but I see him as a squad player at best to be honest. We made a bid for Lars last summer so he's obviously on Wenger's radar. Let's hope he goes back in again for him this summer.
Also Draxler is another player who seems to be well on the radar of Wenger. There were strong rumours in January that we'd sign him, it didn't happen at that time and the rags had to have a story as to why it didn't happen then, so they speculated that Wenger didn't want to spend and the deal was dead, but the truth might be that there is an agreement in place that he'll join in the summer.
I'm thinking this is like the Poldi saga, that story just never went away and we eventually signed him
Whilst i'm 100% behind the Bender signing (would be awesome in our team), not sure 40 million for Draxler is good business. If we're after someone to play on the left, then get a proper winger, not another of these "not a winger, not a CAM, not a striker" types that Wenger seems to love (Cazorla, Podolski, Arshavin, Nasri etc.)
If it was 40m and Wenger did refuse to pay that much then he was right not to go for it. But I suspect that the figure and the rebuttal were tabloid bluster to fill some pages in January, what might be more likely given the strength of the rumour is that there's an agreement in principal to buy this summer. I know what you mean about Draxler's position, but I think Wenger would probably use him as a LWF like he does with Walcott on the right.
99.9% of the time I am kidding, but on this occasion (forget Cesc) I would sell Jack before everyone else comes to realise he ain't the 2nd coming. Cash in while we can.
I would take Cesc back in a beartbeat. Easily one of the best Arsenal and Wenger era players. Also only one of a few that would get into the invincibles first 11.
I agree, if only to keep him out of the clutches of either of the Manchester clubs -they've already had too many of our ex-players................
