I didn't say that Mourinho is only good at spending money. He's good at buying top class players and motivating them. It was actually a compliment - he can achieve a lot of success in such a short space of time. But that's all he is - he's like a consultant/contractor. Will come in and do a job and move on. Unfortunately, he doesn't leave anything behind that is sustainable.

Love him or loathe him, Mourinho is a winner. His style of football is just as much about Chelsea as it is about Mourinho. At Real Madrid his style of football with the most expensive squad was pretty bloody good tbf, and he didn't do too bad at Inter or Porto either.

For those reasons I'd be tempted to have him at our club. BUT there's always something different that stops me. It's nothing to do with his football, but instead the circus he'd turn the club into. United have prided themselves as a club in keeping their **** in house. Mourinho sadly has a habit of hanging his dirty laundry out and turning everything into a public spectacle. Although that may be gravy to a club like Chelsea, the clubs with a greater history and tradition will always cower away from that. Call it pride, tradition, reputation or just a bit of self-respect, but that is why Real Madrid as a club, Inter as a club, are relieved he's left.

I doubt there are many who have won much more to be fair. His worst run is in the past few years yet he won a la liga with a brilliant Barcelona and not so long ago a Treble with inter ffs. A team who have done **** all bar win some title by default I recent times.

He could still nick the title this season and hes the only chelsea manager who seems to want both the league and europe. The rest choose one or the other.

Wasnt aimed at you. Just the fact its been claimed a few times and it is utter garbage.

Most managers would **** up with unlimited funds. Mancini had about 500million and won a title. Wow. Lol.

Ancelotti is pretty close to Mourinho in terms of achievements, if not more?? I'm not sure. <ok>

Either way - if I was a Man Utd fan, I'd definitely have Ancelotti over Mourinho.

Fair enough Treble. I honestly think he would curb it down at United.

You are right though - a lot of people do spend a lot of money, and you don't get much for it. At least with Mou, if you give him money to spunk, he will buy quality players and he will motivate them.

Would I consider him an all time great? His CV would say yes. But for me, he needs to show a period of stability, building a squad, maintain and then rebuild it.

Yep, they've won two a piece a think. Ancelotti has won titles in Spain, France and Italy. Quality manager.

That suggests there are no more greats really then. Well maybe klopp and Simeone but I think were getting ahead of ourselves.

These are the new breed of greats.

    You forgot England.

Mourinho has won titles in Portugal, England, Italy and apain himself. Also basically owned the facup and league vup in England lol.

They are probably pretty close to be fair.

But if I was appointing a new manager, I would definitely be looking at people like Klopp, Simeone, Rodgers etc. These are guys who are willing to get their hands dirty, build from the ground up. They are the sort who look to improve what they already have (because they don't have the unltnd resources).

Porto are a lot like Atletico madrid to be fair. A sell to survive club. Unlike Madrid though they have limited competition in their league. He made it big to soon I suppose so never had the chance to build from th bottom up.

Mourinho has 16 major honours to Ancelottis 8. Pep has 8. Im counting major trophies here, not community shield type stuff or world club stuff.

He also took some team I have never heard of up there with Benfica and Porto so I suppose he is capable if in that situation.

Only fair to point out Peps behind about 8 years on Jose and more on Carlo.

Not at all. Plenty of respect for him wanting to stay at Dortmund for now.

Milan under Ancelotti were an absolute ****ing joy to watch. He developed a side that took the BEST of Italian ideology (solid defensive back line, the steel in midfield, tactical build up play with emphasis on manipulating the opposition) BUT unlike other Italian sides added pacy, expansive, fluid attacking football to it. Cafu, a wingback I've never seen the likes of since typified all of that. It's not far off United when we were at our best. Ancelotti is so suited to United's style of football. I also think his time at Chelsea demonstrated a man trying to fight a built in ethos of a club to stifle rather than to be free and expressive. At United as a club and its philosophy he'd have that in spades.

He's more of a steady the ship manager though. He's not someone you'd hire if you wanted to change the playing philosophy & style of the club from top to bottom.

Genuine question then, why do you think he is a ****?
