Ki's father told the Korean Herald:

Ki Sung-yueng has asked the team to let him leave early. Gus Poyet will make the final decision after Sunderland's away match against Manchester United on Saturday.

I think Sunderland may feel that it'd be better off for him to focus on a quick recovery (at home) if he can't play in the last match anyway. Sung-yueng will follow whatever decision the team reaches.

I'm happy with that, unless he wants paying.

It's a shame, he was a very key player for us at one point, scored some vital goals and was even battling (Liverpool away etc)

A great player on his day though, would still take him on over Gardner Etc

I'd take Ki back in the summer for a reasonable price, but he'l cost too much imo

No point him staying here until the end of the season, he has no use hanging around if he's gonna be injured for the rest of the season

How lovely that he'd not want to do a lap of appreciation for us fans at the end of the swansea game.

    He can do one.

Is it just me that doesn't see the problem here? The lad is injured, has no chance of playing for the rest of the season, so wants to go to his home country for medical treatment ahead of the world cup. Seems fair enough...

Didn't he do this at Swansea last season and that's why laudrup feel out with him. Could be a home sickness thing.

Have any of you considered that it is speculation from the media and just people putting 2 + 2 together. If every football rumour was true all of our players would be playing for Chelsea, Liverpool, Man U and City.

I believe his problem is tendinitis, and if that is the case the more he plays then the worse it gets with no recovery if he is training. Could explain he drop in form and enthusiasm.

Let's be fair to the lad...he's done well for us,and if he's injured, let him have all the time he needs to recover for the world-cup!
