We still got there didn't we? I think that's a **** excuse. Not going because it'll be a weakened team is no better than not getting because the team are in the Championship.
It looks like you didnt read the bit in bold. My point is that the club starts off with not placing much importance on the FA Cup but it can be seen that it is very important to the fans.
Our kid rocked up at 7am this morning took one look at the queue, went to the front and offered someone an extra 20 quid on top of the face value. Job done.
It's easy enough to say if it's just a short journey but if you have to travel 100s of miles and there's no train back it's not so good.
No different to travelling a long way to a league match. The strength of the side fielded shouldn't play a part.
Are the club putting out a weakened side? Other than injuries and ineligible? You are supposed to use logic in an argument!
I applaud you for picking up the challenge Peter but stop making yourself look stupid. You obviously didnt go to the Brighton or Sunderland home games. This is the FA Cup final and you want to go to it. Be honest about it. A car journey up to Hull on a Sunday wasnt appealing. Thats fine.. There are plenty who live in Hull and on here who didnt bother with the home games, Brighton or Sunderland.
The club were putting out weakened sides match after match in the FA Cup. I dont think putting out a weakened side in one league match is comparable. What is comparable is persistently playing weakened sides.
We only played two games before Brighton, we easily beat Boro and against Southend we still put out a team capable of beating a League Two side.
The club didnt put out weakened sides for these games but as soon as the club plays weakened sides I think they lose any right to expect fans to go. They are effectively saying that they are not bothered. I don't drive and I couldn't get my wife to drive me and the last train is ridiculously early. I used to go everywhere and when you live in London it's not so easy. I remember having to wait for a 4 am train from Swansea to get back to London. Years ago most matches were 3 pm on a saturday but those days are long gone.
The league was Bruce's priority and at that time, so I had no issue with the teams put out. And as Ben says, they were teams good enough to beat the opposition, which is the point.
Plus they werent that weak. Middlesboro team 22 Harper 02 Rosenior 03 Figueroa 29 Quinn (Jahraldo-Martin - 83' ) 15 McShane (Chester - 76' ) 23 Faye 17 Boyd 07 Meyler 33 Proschwitz 21 McLean (Elmohamady - 80' ) 18 Nagy Substitutes 05 Chester 12 Fryatt 16 Jakupovic 20 Sagbo 27 Elmohamady 31 Fletcher 32 Jahraldo-Martin
They were weak because better players were not playing. Is the result the deciding factor in whether a team is weak? I would suggest not. Many sides are capable of beating the opposition but I would suggest that a lot fewer achieve that result. Hull City have a poor record of beating teams when they put out weak sides in cup matches.
