the clubs briefing the media against us are apparently very patient.

 

I don't, because Southampton is often the club they tag on to the end. They don't want to say only Arsenal (insert club name) want a certain player, so they add on Southampton. This happened a lot last season when an agent in Europe was pimping a player.

 

Me neither. And I don't care if we're the first club mentioned or the last. A club can't put an offer in until a transfer window opens and it's just as likely to be knocked back anyhow. That's exactly the same for transfers in or out.

Incidentally, when does the transfer window open this summer..? Date please.

 

On the other hand, you do want to buy them before they perform well in front of the world and their value skyrockets.

You can put an offer in anytime you like, and it can be accepted, personal terms agreed, etc. It's just the transfer of the player's registration that can't happen outside the window.

And I believe it opens the day after the season ends.

 

As I said on the last match day thread(I think?) I can see Pochettino signing a contract in the off season and Saints make a big thing about it. Pochettino and Saints have already talked and so have Saints and Cork.

Heard nothing of incomings apart from a few teams we have scouted.

 

So waiting until the summer is BS then? I don't know what to believe anymore!

When does the transfer window open and close?

There are two transfer windows in each Barclays Premier League season.

The first commences at midnight on the last day of the season and ends on 31 August if a working day - or, if not, on the first working day thereafter, at a time determined by the Board.

The second transfer window commences at midnight on the 31 December and ends on the 31 January if a working day, and again, if not, on the first working day thereafter, at a time determined by the Board.

Oh. Well in that case FM is wrong - no transfers can be completed until 1st July!

 

Well the season ends on May 11th, so the window opens at midnight on May 12th, for domestic transfers at least.

 

Yep, part of the reason I am 99% sure he will sign a new contract.

 

I always thought that teams could agree transfers but they can't go through until 1st July.

Nothing stopping that from happening...after all there are often several very early transfers which must have had the details sorted prior to the transfer window.

 

Pre Season starts July 1st usually, so players' contracts usually begin then.
