WITHIN 4 POINTS was the term used, unfortunately Hampy keeps slightly moving things around from this original statement, that us why some if us are getting a bit hacked off with him. Any how I really fail to see why he keeps arguing a point he is clearly wrong and in a minority about, be it 4 or 3 points we spent over half the season within a couple of back to back results if the play off places.! I just fail to see why Hampy can't view this in a positive light compared to last or past few seasons.?
Hoppers - first of all I've not moved any goal posts. Putting the pedandics aside - the point is that if you're six points off and win two games it doesn't mean that you have then caught up sixth spot - even if everyone else around you loses you're likely to fall back a bit over the next couple of games. Derby and Wigan have put together runs of form that will make up that kind of gap but that's been down to changes in the dugout. I don't think we've improved on last season under McCarthy (our points per game ratio is definitely no better if not worse) except for McGoldrick and Jonny Williams who is not ours anyway and I think the defence has got a lot less stable.
Even if you don't count midweeks, say we play on Saturday afternoon at 3 win and then Brighton play at 5:30 and go sixth and then Reading play on Sunday at 2 and we're down to 8th that does not constitute a week Hoppers (penny drops). The as it stood tables are usually a snap shot at the end of your game rather than after a round of games.
Yeah, weighty, there was a discussion over this which if you care to read back you'll see. Forgive me for not wanting to repeat everything I've posted on this ridiculous thread a million times
And the reason I'm getting hacked off Hoppers is I explained exactly what I meant and you still can't hold your hands up at diving in a bit quick on that one
Rumours down here in Sarf London is that Johnny Williams will be signed as a Town player in the Summer with Cressy going the other way!
Yeah me too! I think Cressy is very overated but thats just my opinion! Apparently Pulis doesn't think Johnny will be strong enough in his Midfield but really rates Cressy for his crossing ability! I have a mate who is in the know at Selhurst and this is what he reckons will happen.
I think that might be where the whole 'moving Goalposts' thing came about first it was four points then it seemed you realised this didn't support your argument so it then changed to three or less...........no one is asking you to repeat yourself just to accept that a good few people disagree with you and they have every right to do so with out being patronised ( this seems to ring a bell), you don't need to convert people to your way of thinking.
I like Cresswell but I think he is more attacking than MM would like in a defender really and is maybe why MM compensates defensively in midfield, at the start of the season when I saw Mings ' the talentless' play against Reading he was utter cack but by all accounts he has cone on leaps and bounds since then.
I just dont see the point of this arguement! Any one with half a brain can see that we have made solid progress this year! We havent once been in the bottom 5 or 6 (maybe apart from the very early stages) and we have been around 6th - 10th for the larger part of the season which is a huge improvement on the last FOUR seasons! A very satisfactory season and promotion next year!
#101 / #102 3 points - I know we've spent most of the second half of the season 4 or 5 points away - I meant within to mean less than. It all got a bit playground. To be perfectly honest if someone out in the real world called my integrity into question like that they are not someone I would choose to associate with again.
Warky, it's an improvement on the previous seasons but last season after McCarthy took over from Jewell we were a lot more solid than now. McGoldrick and Williams are the plus points and as others have mentioned no big tonkings from the likes of Posh but that's really about it.
