I think the achievement of this manager and this club deserves a thread on it's own. Just two or so season's back, Atlectico were pretty much a laughing stock, a club that always bottled it in the league and always got beat by Real Madrid. In a way, they were a bit like us as a club who just could not reach that next level. And then came Simeone, and in the space of two years, they are now on the verge of winning La Liga and have reached a CL final having beaten the likes of Chelsea, Barcelona and AC Milan. What can we learn from what Simeone has done at Madrid? Tactics? Playing more on the counter? But, the most amazing thing about them is their sheer work rate. How have they not got tried after doing this for the whole season? I think if Simeone manages to win the CL, his achievement would be on a par with what Clough did at Forest in the late 70's.

I think it's safe to say that everyone bar Real Madrid fans will be cheering them on against Real Madrid in the final, because anyone can spend millions upon millions and finally reach a CL final and win it, but if Atlectico win it, then it really will be something special.

Nothing short of remarkable the way he's turned them around. Unbelievable that some on here were trying to dispute the fact that he's 'building success' at Athletico and would not leave them to join Arsenal this summer. But anyway let's not turn this into another debate about Wenger. Simeone has shown himself to be a class act and his players work their socks off for him. To break the dominance of Real and Barca in La Liga is probably harder than ousting the top four teams in the premier league. I really hope to see them lift the CL trophy this year as it would be a victory for football.

Great achievement from Simeone. He has beaten some very good opposition in the Champs league from Barca to Chelsea. He has proved that he can beat the very contrasting style of Barca to park the bus Chelsea. Outstanding and if he wins, it will be a victory for football.

What this does show is a well drilled team without mega bucks can still win the biggest honors.

Indeed , Wigan v City , twice.

get your tactics right , get the players motivated and believing in themselves , get the work rate right.

Anything is possible , however unlikely.

Please do show these comments from posters where they state that Simeone isn't building success at Atletico.

And way to go contradicting yourself in two consecutive sentences.

Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone thanks players' mothers
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/27235000

Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone praised his players' mothers for nurturing a winning mentality after reaching the Champions League final.
The Spanish side came from behind to beat Chelsea 3-1, setting up a clash with city rivals Real Madrid on 24 May.

"I want to thank the mothers of these players because they gave birth to them with balls this big," said Simeone, gesturing as if holding a football. <laugh>

They've spent a decent amount on players themselves, hardly David vs Goliath. Simeone is doing a good job though, even if his style of football is a bit boring.

The figures shown for QPR's wage bill are for when they were in the PL.
Atletico have had to reduce their wage bill because they are €500 million in debt.

At no point am I stating that Simeone is not building success... I was stating that your opinion is not a fact (although obviously not very clearly).

Building his team to get to the CL final doesn't mean that Simeone won't leave.

Neither of these mean I think we'd have any chance of getting him though.

Why does it seem that on every thread you want to start a row with Piskie ?

I don't want to. I just feel he gets away with a lot as a mod and is hypocritical at times. Modding others for things that he does himself.

Problems of being a mod when you have your own opinions. Nothing wrong with having your own opinion but hard to do two jobs at once.
