    First episode last night.

A bit 'bitty', but they had to provide a platform for the rest of the series. Might be a bit confusing to those who haven't read the books.

The Viper was class. The Thenns are nasty huns.

Not the best episode last night.

A bit of a book spoiler at the end?

Not seen it yet Bealey. I will watch it tonight. Can I thank you for your insightful commentaries on each episode they have proven invaluable to me. Thank you also for not removing my latest tag which alleges you have performed fellatio on little Tyrian. They are obviously satirical as I believe the actor concerned is happily married.

No comments on the Fargo thread but it's good to see all the poofs and/or women (?) on here discussing Game of Thrones.

It's just that Beale's threads are more insightful ST. Anyway Fargo is merely a TV show based on a film. What's next ST The Sarah Connor Chronicles? MASH perhaps? Back to the future the animated series?

To be honest I haven't watched Fargo yet. I heard the first episode was excellent, but the second isn't quite as good. I intend to give it a watch and I will comment then like a good womanly poof.

Having read the books I really don't know why I bother watching GoT . I know what's going to happen but I just can't help it .

    It's sooooo good .

Fargo is good too despite the lack of dragons .

    No probs Moses.

What did you make of the ending? We haven't heard what the white walkers do with the male-borns in the books yet. Also the 'Night King' was only legend but appears to be real going by the TV show. Well not 'real' but you know what I mean.

The fantasy aspect is kept at arms length which is good. It's more of a medieval political drama.

Me too. It's too diverse to remember everything in the books so it's nice to have your memory jogged by watching the TV show.

I've never read the books Bealey so I have nothing to judge it against. The sheer length of the narrative means that they must have to cut things out to make the thing viable for TV. The medium of television also demands a payback for its viewers and can't just leave things to the imagination like a book can. Possibly that's why you have to have an explanation as to where they come from. As I said I haven't read them, but I liked the ending.

I agree with you that it is more political than fantasy. For me it's hugely watchable due to the characterisation and the conflicts the characters face. I like the way you kind of get caught up in a story line for five minutes then it switches to another one you had forgotten about which is equally absorbing. It's a damn fine show.

    This.

That's why if winter isn't here by the end of the 4th season I'll be ****ing giving up on it. I wouldn't be surprised if this was dragged out over 10 seasons though....

There will be ten seasons minimum. 1 season = 1 book and there will be at least ten books altogether, probably eleven.

Two of the books have been split into two already, I expect the final two books will both be split into two.

Just wait till books seven, eight and nine MD when the White walkers incessantly debate independence beyond the wall and all it's implications<wah>

HBO/R.R Martins have both totally cocked this up in my opinion. You can't really start a TV show and not have an idea of where its actually going to end up - that's retarded.

I'm sure the HBO guys have a rough idea but then it wouldn't surprise me if that **** has told them nothing at all.

I like the show, I do. But if the white walker storyline doesn't develop soon am ****in' done. Sick of seeing random 30 second segments that have very little meaning, if any at all.

I should probably read the books and stop being so judgemental but am no a big fan of reading this sort of genre. It's the same with Tolkiens' stuff. I tried but I could never get into the books.

Tolkein's stuff is terrible. GRRM is a far better storyteller. I was put off reading the books as I thought they might be a bit LOTR but they're not at all.

I'm a bit wary of starting the Wheel of Time series for the same reasons. They're supposed to be hard going and it's disappointing the original author snuffed he concluded it. GRRM better ****in not.

Sort of spoilers, but not really

I thought this weeks episode was probably the best of the new season so far Bealey. How was that for brainwashing? You almost feel sorry for old Theon. It's good to see a bit more focus on Tyrian too. I felt he has been kind of downplayed. I am guilty of being a dwarf, brilliant<laugh>

The Guardian article made me think though. Do you think that Hoopy was actually one of their linguists and he was just using all of us for practice on the Old firm boards?
