Should we do something similar to Norwich? http://metro.co.uk/2014/04/30/norwi...k-player-of-season-awards-in-protest-4714369/
LOL. it's been a disappointing season, but there's been a few good players at different times. - Lloris, Adebayor and Eriksen. Lloris, on the whole, has been very good all season. Adebayor had a decent spell, and Eriksen has got better and better as the season has gone on. Lloris would get my vote.
Voted Eriksen, a lot of Ade goals came from him and he's also chipped in with goals himself recently, baring in mind he's only turned 22 and it's his first season in the arguably the best league in the world - where he's outshined the so called "best number 10 in the world" - I think it's impressive. Hugo's had it rough with the defence he's had in front of him but I feel it'd be a bit weird giving it to a defensive player who's been part of a back 5 that's conceded nearly as many goals as we've scored - even if 90% weren't his fault.
90% is a bit of a disservice to Lloris (i know you didn't mean it that way). If only 90% were not his fault that would suggest he's made 5 errors that have lead directly to goals. I don't think he has, has he? Admittedly i have blocked large portions of the season out my mind
Didn't someone do this last season? West Ham, perhaps? Can't remember. I'd vote for Lloris too, I think. Eriksen for Young Player. Barring that, give it to Ledley King.
I voted on the Spurs website for Eriksen, after thinking I was going to vote for Adebayor. I would have voted for Lloris earlier on in the season.
Lloris for me too. Bar the occassional mistakes, which goalkeepers will make, he has been the most consistent and high performer, imo!
I'm waiting for the paperwork to be done with this new Gel bloke who's coming in. He was gonna be signed around the Jan transfer window and make all our new signings suddenly look good wasn't he? What happened to Gel? Is he injured? Lloris has to be the least positive player of the season for years and years and years. Yet he's the man. No one has been better or more consistent over the course of the season. Good God though - even in the darkest days of the 2000s and late 90s we pretty much always had at least one stand-out individual. This season really has been a huge bunch of arse. Are we at "the next level" yet? The one NEW MANAGER was going to take us to so we didn't have to put up with only finishing 4th?
Just googled who previous winners were: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tottenham_Hotspur_F.C.#Club_player_of_the_year Neil Sullivan in 2001 stands out. And remember how good Stephen Carr was? Says something about the team back then maybe but he really was often our best, most dangerous, most creative player there for a while. Got it two years in a row. And then I scrolled up from that and had a peruse of the Spurs Hall of Fame inductees. And saw...Steffen Freund! My God - was that for services to the geeing up of crowds?! It wasn't for pretending to be a top-level payer was it? Can't argue with the rest of them, though (especially the ones that were before my time, obviously).
Haha I'm the same but I'm pretty sure at least 2 or 3 times during the season I thought "Oh bloody hell Hugo!".
Fair enough. I have actually been fairly lucky in missing a couple of the poundings we took so i may well have missed some.
I'm really struggling to pick anyone. I'd probably go with Eriksen, but it's more on the basis of him being our "least ****e player" than our "best" player. Our defense (no, please, don't laugh!) has been utterly dreadful, to the point where I think we need to change it completely. No way should Dawson be given another season in a Spurs shirt, and Vertonghen either needs a kick up the arse or sold for as much as we can recoup from what we paid for him. What happened to Kaboul? And don't even get me started on our fullbacks! Midfield has been a roller-coaster ride, veering from ultra highs to spectacular lows. As for our "strikers," I think that's all a conspiracy; we don't have any.
