Sinn Fein leader Gerry Adams was arrested last night by police for the murder of a widowed mother of ten who was abducted from her home in 1972.
The 'freedom fighter'-turned-politician who is 65, was arrested at home shortly before tea-time.
He is accused of the murder of Jean McConville, who was abducted and murdered by the Provisional IRA and secretly buried on a beach in the Republic of Ireland.
Witnesses to her abduction claimed she had gone to the aid of a wounded British soldier, shot by the IRA.

Well I amongst many on here fought to for my country, but you know that. I am not pleased that Gerry Adams has been arrested, I know he will wriggle out of the charges and make political capital out of the arrest. He is a very clever politician, a man with no morals. His command area around the Divis flats was not a nice place to patrol. His gangsters ran the streets, the protection rackets, drugs, whoring and illegal drinking holes, they fed on the community, they where not protecting it, they where bleeding it to death. Need a house, rent it from the Provo's, drink eat and travel all with a percentage going to the them. The Prods where just as bad, running the big jobs like the ship yards and of course the housing executive who only gave council houses to prods.
