Bloody hell Scarbs, could you please stop hugging everyone ? Anyone would think we were in an FA cup final or something....
We have a chant for Allam at every game dont we?: "Since 1904" "We said no Allam" "We'll die when we want" "Stop being a mental egotist and spitting your dummy out and vilely insulting people who have supported this club before you'd even heard of Hull". It's a less catchy one is that. He gets more chants than anyone else.
Too be fair I think the FA cup final effect is working. I myself have not felt the need to post any abusive stuff, apart from to Patty, since we won at Wembley and I'm feeling the love brother!
I would say that our season has gone well because of Steve Bruce and the team, and in spite of the Allams. Their shenanigans could very easily have led to problems with the manager, and spilt onto the pitch. The fact that SB remained focussed is a sign of his excellent management skills.
I do see that after the things Assem Allam said, emotions are running high and some will not forgive. However, to get back to the poster's original point, we might want to remember who sold the job to Steve Bruce in the first place . We have never attracted such a good manager with previous Chairmen, and at the time when we were looking, I seem to remember quite a lot of people thinking Lee Clark was an option. Just a pause for thought.
If you want to give credit to the person who first suggested Steve Bruce as our manager, and then contacted him and held preliminary talks, say a big thank you to Peter Chapman. The Allam's had never heard of him.
Heard of him or not. Steve Bruce said in a interview that Assem Allam convinced him to join Hull City. If you like the Allams or not, to say they deserves no credit for the current success of the club is laughable.
If you want to show some appreciation for the owner, you could try shortening your name to Boo; he likes short names and it would be a pleasant surprise!
I didn't say they deserve no credit for the current success, I merely pointed out that the person who deserves credit for suggesting and contacting SB is Peter Chapman. The Allam's clearly accepted the advice given and did well to sell the club to Bruce. SB more than anyone is responsible for the success of the team, clubs that have spent far more money than we have will be relegated.
Agreed, Steve Bruce has done an amazing job. But it has been done with the backing of our chairman. You said the success was due to Bruce in spite of the Allams. That is not true. I have seen nothing to suggest that the relationship between them is anything other than excellent.
As soon as they announce that the name change idea is over they will get the backing of nearly all the fans , until then they won't
Its a shame that with all that Papa Doc has done for Hull City AFC and the local community he should be an absolute hero but with his absolute stubbornness on the "City" issue I do not even think even that would restore my faith in him. He could have had the same recognition from the supporters that we gave to AP who regularly had his name chanted.
